As NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States.\nWe have an exciting opportunity for a Cryogenics Mechanical Engineer t o join the team with Bastion, a teammate company!\nResponsibilities\nThe Cryogenics Mechanical Engineer will:\nPerform engineering design and analysis for cryogenic components, vacuum jacketed and warm piping systems, and associated mechanical systems.\n\nDevelop procurement and fabrication documentation, including Statements of Work, specifications, and engineering drawings.\n\nCoordinate with vendors and fabricators, participate in design reviews, and witness key testing activities.\n\nSupport facility operations for 20 K helium systems, 80 K liquid nitrogen storage, and distribution systems.\n\nProvide troubleshooting, maintenance guidance, and technical oversight during equipment assembly, installation, and commissioning.\n\nPrepare and participate in safety reviews, hazard analyses, operational procedures, and engineering review boards.\n\nCollaborate with multi-disciplined engineering teams and present design and technical findings.\n\nThis is an on-site role.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Education/Experience/Skills:\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, plus two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.\nExperience with mechanical stress analysis of pressure components, mechanical equipment design, and hands on system development.\n\nKnowledge of machining, welding, piping, and pipe fitting practices.\n\nMinimum two years of progressively responsible mechanical design experience.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in MS Office tools.\n\nAbility to positively interact with and support contractors, vendors, and procurement professionals.\n\nPreferences:\nCryogenic piping system design, fluid flow and heat transfer analysis, and cryogenic materials knowledge.\n\nExperience with cold boxes, phase separators, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, valves, and other cryogenic plant equipment.\n\nFamiliarity with ASME BPVC VIII, ASME B31.3, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.\n\nProficiency with 3D CAD and analysis tools (Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, ANSYS).\n\nKnowledge of high vacuum systems and helium mass spec leak detection.\n\nExperience with design and sizing of plant components, such as heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, piping, valves, relief devices\n\nProficient with 3D modeling using Creo, Solid Works and/or AutoCAD Inventor.\n\nFamiliarity with national building codes, NFPA and OSHA requirements.\n\nEssential Requirements\nMust be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.\nApplicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.\nWork may involve sitting for extended periods.\nMay require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.\nMust have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.\nGenerally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.\nStandard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)\nRegular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.\nAbility to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.\nMust be able to work in a team atmosphere.\nMust put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.\nGrooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.\nThis position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.\nDon’t miss out on this great opportunity; for immediate consideration, apply now!\nBarrios Technology is a drug-free workplace, which is imperative to the health and safety of all employees and is required as a condition of receiving contracts from federal agencies.
