Afinitas is part of BW Forsyth Partners, LLC, the investment group of global manufacturing and engineering consulting firm Barry-Wehmiller, a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members, united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.Job Description:\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES\nInterpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied\nSet up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame-cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures, and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices\nPerform basic saw operations and painting as required\nCalculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers\nMay measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers\nAssist with the detection of defective material, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties and report to the supervisor\nComplete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements\nParticipate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process\nPerform all work in accordance with established safety procedures\nMaintain equipment and work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition\nOther duties as assigned\nQUALIFICATIONS\nAbility to understand and interpret basic blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints\nBeginning level grinding knowledge\nBeginning-level experience in MIG, TIG, and flex core welding\nBeginning level experience with welding stainless steel and aluminum\nTeam oriented\nCommunication skills\nInterpersonal skills\nAbility to multi-task\nAbility to work individually as well as in a team environment\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nWorks in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals.
