By blending people-centric leadership with disciplined operational strategies and purpose-driven growth, Barry-Wehmiller has become a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.Job Description:\nThe Mechanical Engineer II position is responsible for the design or alteration of machines, sections, systems, units, or parts with consideration of manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nCreate innovative conceptual designs, technical solutions, and assembly drawings.\nPerform hands-on design and detailing of machine parts and assemblies.\nSupport purchasing in evaluating offers and suppliers.\nRead and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.\nResearch and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.\nSpecify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.\nInvestigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.\nMeet design deliverables for quality, cost, and scheduling.\nMaintain knowledge of technology upgrades, industry trends, and engineering resources to meet or exceed product development or customer requirements.\nAssist in solving customer issues related to design or product performance.\nCollaborate to develop and improve products and engineering processes.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering\nMinimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.\nProficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks/PDM and/or Autodesk Inventor/Vault)\nOEM experience in machine component design is preferred\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:\nDemonstrated project completion experience and ownership.\nAbility to handle complex problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.\nPossess comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.\nAbility to travel up to 15% by air or car.\nCOMPETENCES\nCustomer Focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.\nInstills Trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.\nDrives Results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.\nCommunicates Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.\nOptimizes Work Processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.\nResourcefulness- Adapts to changing circumstances and priorities; effectively copes with unexpected interruptions, delays, and demands.\nDecision Quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.\nPlans and Aligns - Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.\nAction-Oriented - Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.\nLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY\nThis position does not directly supervise other associates.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS\nTypically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer\nStand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about regularly\nLift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 40 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently\nOccasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards\nTravel by air or car occasionally\nAt Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
