By blending people-centric leadership with disciplined operational strategies and purpose-driven growth, Barry-Wehmiller has become a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.\n Job Description:\nThe Preconstruction Manager position applies the principles of construction management to develop and maintain an effective preconstruction program to produce conceptual and preliminary budgets and schedules, establish and maintain a list of prequalified vendors and subcontractors, develop and maintain master bid documents and scopes of work and participate in procurement of major project scopes of work and equipment. Specific responsibilities include:\nPreconstruction:\nDevelop and maintain master project estimate data base;\nMaintain master project cost data base;\nDevelop and maintain a master list of prequalified vendors and subcontractors;\nDevelop and maintain master bid documents and scopes of work; and\nDevelop project schedule templates.\nPlanning and Scheduling:\nParticipate in developing initial project estimates (including conceptual estimates) and schedules in consultation with the responsible Partner or Director; and\nDevelop a preliminary project schedule.\nProcurement:\nParticipate in developing and/or review project bid list;\nParticipate in developing and/or review subcontractor scopes of work;\nParticipate in and/or review project managers analysis of contract documents and proposed subcontractor selections; and\nParticipate in and/or review project managers major material purchase recommendations.\nProject Management:\nUpdate project estimate based on review of 30/60/90 percent drawings;\nReview and establish with the project manager critical dates prior to proceeding with detailed scheduling;\nAdvise project manager of procurement activities; and\nParticipate in post project review with key project personnel.\nQuality Control:\nMonitor quality control program activities;\nMonitor actual verses budgeted cost for major procurement items; and\nMonitor actual verses projected project durations.\nManagerial:\nConduct annual performance evaluation of direct reports;\nProvide periodic reports on workload and department accomplishments; and\nParticipate in the development and maintenance of an updated company operations manual.\nUp to 20% domestic travel required for site visits and team/client meetings.\nRequired Education and Experience:\nPosition requires a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related technical field (or foreign degree equivalent); and 10 years of relevant experience. Must have:\nAt least ten (10) years’ experience in each of the following:\nCost and project schedule development and management of industrial construction projects;\nNegotiating subcontracts and purchase orders; and\nConstruction estimating and project forecasts.\nAt least five(5) years’ experience in each of the following:\nOn-site construction management experience for construction projects in the industrial/commercial sector;\nDesign build/EPC project planning and delivery experience for construction projects in the industrial/commercial sector; and\nUtilizing software programs such as Procore, Primavera, MS Project, WinEST, Timberline, AutoCAD, and/or Revit.\nPosition requires an OSHA 30-hour Construction certification.\nAt Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
