Afinitas is part of BW Forsyth Partners, LLC, the investment group of global manufacturing and engineering consulting firm Barry-Wehmiller, a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members, united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.Job Description:\nSummary\nThis Engineering and Quality Group position engineers products meeting design, performance, constructability and quality requirements.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES\nTo engineer manufactured products which meet specific contract, performance and quality requirements.\n\nReview of contract plans, proposals and appropriate state or other governing agencies specifications.\n\nDevelop designs supported by engineering calculations and reports.\n\nCreation of RFI’s to facilitate the design process.\n\nDetermine special detailing requirements and communicate design information to Detailers for shop drawing development.\n\nEvaluate and determine adequacy of as-built conditions for products deviating from design parameters as it relates to the intended performance characteristics.\n\nCommunicate and interact with project owners, engineers, inspectors and contractors.\n\nAbility to evaluate comments made by reviewing parties for validity and adjust designs as necessary or create rebuttal argument as to why design alteration is not required.\n\nProvide customer supervision for product installation as required by project specification.\n\nSpecial projects including but not limited to research and development, new product design, testing program advancement.\n\nOther duties as necessary.\n\nQualifications\nWork Experience\n2-5 years of experience in a Design Engineer role\n\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering\n\nSkills & Knowledge Areas\nRequired\nStrong understanding of steel fabrication processes, techniques, and quality standards\n\nAbility to interpret and communicate contract documents effectively\n\nProficiency in performing engineering calculations\n\nTechnical writing skills for customer correspondence\n\nAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment\n\nCommitment to process adherence and quality workflows\n\nPreferred\nFamiliarity with DOT standards\n\nFamiliarity with ASTM material specifications\n\nExperience with solid modeling software\n\nABOUT RJ WATSON (An Afinitas Company):\nRJ Watson, founded in the Buffalo, New York, area, is a manufacturer and supplier specializing in custom structural solutions for the bridge, highway and heavy construction industries.
