By blending people-centric leadership with disciplined operational strategies and purpose-driven growth, Barry-Wehmiller has become a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.Job Description:\nSUMMARY:\nThe Quality Engineer will investigate, analyze, and lead corrective action for a wide variety of manufacturing and process issues related to our internal and external suppliers of parts and components. This position will collaborate with other departments, to resolve issues, prevent recurrence, and continuously improve quality culture and sustained product quality.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nAnalyze and solve problems on a wide variety of quality issues related to manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, painting, assembly, and test as well as components in the areas of Machining, Fab/Weld, Assembly, and Supply Chain.\nInvestigate and correct quality issues for internal, external, and interplant supplier quality issues.\nCoordinate containment and corrective action activities.\nThoroughly document quality issues and quality performance for Root Cause & Corrective Action.\nLead process audits and other quality related projects.\nUnderstand details of engineering drawings and specifications to aid in assessment of conformance or non-conformance of a variety of conditions in manufactured components.\nWork with various product line teams, operations and suppliers to facilitate problem solving, supplier corrective action, evaluation, development and communication of quality improvement plans and metrics.\nWork collaboratively with colleagues in design engineering, manufacturing engineering, global purchasing, supply chain, and operations.\nActively support continuous improvement efforts to drive quality excellence within manufacturing operations, engineering, and Supply Chain.\nCoach and train team members as needed in Root Cause Analysis (3 Legged 5 Why) and resulting permanent Corrective Actions.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least 5 years’ experience in a related manufacturing role such as Quality Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Supplier Quality, or Quality Management.\nExperience in an OEM equipment, machining, and assembly environment.\nExperience with engineering drawings, geometric and dimensional tolerancing, engineering and manufacturing requirements, and engineering specifications.\nExperience with coaching and sustaining Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) problem solving process (3 Legged 5 Why - Process, Detection, Systemic), resulting in implementation of permanent Corrective Actions.\nExperience working with both internal & external customers to drive standard work around real Root Cause Analysis with 3 Legged 5 Why as primary tool.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:\nDemonstrated proficiency using Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) problem solving process such 3 Legged 5 Why.\nDemonstrated proficiency using MS Excel and PowerPoint.\nWorking knowledge of PPAP, PFEMA/Control Plans, LEAN, ISO 9001:2008/2015\nProficiency in data analysis tools such as Pareto and Statistical Analysis.\nCOMPETENCES\nCustomer Focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.\nInstills Trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.\nDrives Results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.\nCommunicates Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.\nOptimizes Work Processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.\nEnsures Accountability - Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments.\nDrives Engagement - Creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.\nPlans and Aligns - Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.\nManages Complexity - Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.\nLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY\nThis position does not directly supervise other associates.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS\nTypically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer\nStand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally\nLift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally\nOccasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards\nTravel by air or car occasionally\n#LI-RA1\nThis job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by team members within this classification.It’s not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills, and is subject to change at any time.\nAt Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
