This role applies sound engineering principles with consideration for manufacturing feasibility, cost, safety, and operational performance. Responsibilities include designing, analyzing, testing, installing, and supporting mechanically functioning equipment.\nEssential Functions\nDevelop concepts for new machine functions, enhancements, and upgrades\nCreate technical solutions, detailed designs, and assembly drawings\nInterface with suppliers to clarify system functionality and technical requirements\nSupport Purchasing in evaluating technical proposals, costs, and supplier capabilities\nDevelop and maintain product concept catalogs and specification workbooks\nRead, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports\nCollaborate with engineers and cross-functional personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical guidance\nResearch and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other technical data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements\nSpecify system components or direct product modifications to ensure compliance with engineering design and performance specifications\nInvestigate equipment failures, diagnose root causes, and recommend corrective actions to maintenance teams\nPerform assigned work independently under minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor’s degree (4-year) in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related technical field required\nA minimum of eight years of experience in manufacturing in an engineering role\nExperience in hygiene, personal care, or roll converting industries is a plus\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nAdvanced proficiency in SolidWorks with high-level functionality\nDemonstrated experience supporting or leading project teams and contributing to project management activities\nAbility to solve complex engineering problems and escalate only the most critical issues\nStrong foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and machine systems\nEffective written and verbal communication skills\nWillingness and ability to travel up to 10% as required\nDesign/alteration of moderately complex machines, sections, systems or units\n Prepare layouts using CAD tools\nEvaluation of moderately complex designs; make engineering changes\nPrepare BOM, assembly drawings/schematics using CAD for moderately complex equipment\nAssist in supporting manufacturing/assembly teams\nSupport field teams with technical assistance as required\nOther duties as assigned\nAt Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
