Our core purpose is Building People, Projects, and Communities; our core values are Integrity, Partnership, and Empowerment.\n\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nReporting to the Estimating Manager, the Electrical Estimator is responsible for reviewing detailed drawings and specifications, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and preparing accurate proposals, bid packages, and cost estimates for large industrial and renewable energy construction projects.\n\nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\nLead the development of conceptual, detailed, and final estimates for renewable energy projects, including solar, battery energy storage systems, and substation and transmission lines. \nReview drawings, specifications, and contract documents specific to electrical scope. \nPrepare detailed quantity take-offs and pricing strategies for complex electrical scopes.\nManage subcontractor and supplier solicitation, including bid leveling, scope review, and risk assessment.\nWork closely with operations, project management, engineering, and leadership on pricing strategies and execution plans.\nIdentify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions during preconstruction.\nLead estimate reviews and present results to senior leadership and stakeholders.\nCoordinate with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing for key equipment and materials.\nSupport proposal development, including technical narratives and commercial submissions.\nMaintain and improve estimating systems, databases, and processes.\nParticipate in client meetings, pre-bid meetings, and industry events.\nProvide cost support throughout the project lifecycle, including change orders and cost control.\nEnsure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.\nMentor junior estimators and support overall team development.\nREQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:\n8+ years of construction estimating experience on large-scale renewable energy projects.\nStrong knowledge of EPC, Design-Build, and integrated project delivery models.\nDegree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline, or Journeyperson Electrician certification with extensive estimating experience.\nWorking knowledge of Canadian construction standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.\nFamiliarity with procurement, supply chain logistics, and EPC cost drivers.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with high accuracy and attention to detail.\nStrong knowledge of construction methods, productivity factors, and trade-specific cost drivers.\nAbility to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, bid-driven environment.\nStrong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present to senior stakeholders.\nAbility to interpret drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents, and evaluate commercial, financial, and contractual risks.\nExperience with renewable energy or battery storage projects is an asset.\nExperience estimating electrical scopes, including low, medium, and high-voltage systems, is an asset.\nHands-on trade experience or certification, or a construction-related diploma is considered an asset.\nExperience with estimating software such as Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.\n\nBENEFITS & COMPENSATION\nBase salary is $100,000 - $145,000, dependent on candidate job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. \nOpportunities for skill development and advancement within the company.\nImmediate enrollment in the Company paid benefit package.\nImmediate enrollment in the Company Group RRSP program. \nEligibility to participate in the annual Short Term Incentive Compensation Program (ICP). \nBarton Malow Canada is an equal opportunity employer, fostering diversity, inclusion and belonging within our organization.
