The role supports the mission to centralize and standardize Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE). The engineer will work as part of a mission-focused, solutions-oriented, and adaptive team that values inclusion, innovation, collaboration, and professional development. Most work is conducted on-site in Bethesda, MD, with a flexible schedule and occasional remote tasks.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline using a microservice architecture running on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch backend, and Kafka messaging.\nEnhance and maintain CI/CD and DevOps scripts and processes including AI-integrated solutions for failure analysis, security, and compliance to facilitate faster development, quicker error detection, and resilient deployments.\nDesign, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure including physical and virtualized environments.\nConfigure Kubernetes continuous deployments using Helm, YAML, and ArgoCD.\nCollaborate with System Engineers to design solutions for new features and requirements.\nProvide technical input to systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models in coordination with systems engineering and architect teams.\nParticipate in Agile release planning, scrum of scrums, bug triage, design sessions, and other meetings.\nDevelop PaaS solutions for hybrid deployments and secure multi-tenant GPU sharing in Kubernetes environments.\nRequired Qualifications\n Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience with 8+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field; 6+ years of experience with a Master's degree.\nPossess at least one DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification, e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP (or Associate).\nAbility to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA) certification per DoD 8570 policy.\nExperience with container/container orchestration, specifically Kubernetes, including troubleshooting ingress/gateway API, multi-tenant GPU sharing, Helm chart design/build, pod disruption budgets, and affinity/anti-affinity rules.\nFamiliarity with external-secrets, ArgoCD, cert-manager, and elastic search (eck).\nGitLab pipeline development experience including integration of GitLab CI/CD components, code quality reports, and code coverage/test reports.\nKnowledgeable in navigating Linux OS, specifically sysctls for Kubernetes environments, FApolicyd, and SELinux experience.\nComfortable with Elastic Search, Logstash, and Kibana.\nDemonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution.\nPreferred Qualifications\n Experience with systems at scale.\nExperience or knowledge of key Agile processes and techniques.\nExperience with development languages and tools such as Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, Java.\nExperience on a production or enterprise system.\nExperience with Kafka or other message passing systems (AMQP, JMS).\nExperience with Kubernetes monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry.\nExperience with SALT for deployment automation.\nExperience with Nexus.\nRequired Education and Experience Equivalency\n Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field with 8+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field.\nMaster's degree with 6+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field.\nRequired Certifications\n DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification, e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP (or Associate).\nPrivileged User Account (PUA) certification per DoD 8570 policy (ability to obtain).\nRequired Security Clearance\n Active Top Secret/SCI\nEqual Employment Opportunity\n Base-2 Solutions is an equal opportunity employer.
