This role is centered on backend development, data engineering, and API development, with emphasis on building scalable systems using Python and FastAPI, designing and managing PostgreSQL databases, and supporting high-performance integrations across high-speed, high-volume, mission-critical, data-sensitive systems.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems, based upon documented requirements.\nProvide specific input to software component design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level to individual software components.\nDesign, implement, and integrate software applications or perform software engineering tasks.\nUtilize software engineering and design methodologies appropriate to the development, integration, and production environment.\nEnsure efficient delivery of software engineering capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes.\nMitigate risks, control costs and schedule variance, and effectively manage large-scale, integrated software projects.\nReview and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.\nRequired Qualifications\n Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.\nDemonstrated experience as a backend developer.\nDemonstrated experience in data engineering and API development.\nExperience building scalable systems with Python and FastAPI.\nExperience designing and managing PostgreSQL databases with efficient SQL and indexing strategies.\nProficiency in Python.\nProficiency in FastAPI.\nProficiency in PostgreSQL.\nProficiency in Elasticsearch.\nExperience building high-performance API connections between high-speed, high-volume, mission-critical, data-sensitive systems.\nPreferred Qualifications\n Experience supporting processing-intensive analytics environments.\nExperience working with extremely large data sets.\nExperience supporting real-time systems.\nExperience contributing to software design decisions involving software reuse, COTS/GOTS, and system-to-component requirements analysis.\nRequired Education and Experience Equivalency\n High School Diploma/GED with 13 years of experience.\nAssociates Degree with 11 years of experience.\nBachelors' Degree with 9 years of experience.\nMasters' Degree with 7 years of experience.\nPhD with 5 years of experience.\nRequired Certifications\n None specified.\nRequired Security Clearance\n Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.\nEqual Employment Opportunity\n Base-2 Solutions is an equal opportunity employer.
