As a Supply Chain Tooling & Optimization Intern, you'll work directly with the teams standing up our internally built TMS, WMS, and MRP and scaling deployments across Texas. This is not a shadowing internship: you'll own real problems at the intersection of manufacturing, logistics, and software, building the tools and the intelligent layers on top of them that help us install batteries faster and more reliably.\nWhat You’ll Do\nBuild internal tools, dashboards, and trackers that increase visibility across the supply chain.\n\nContribute to our internally built TMS, WMS, and MRP - wiring up data pipelines, integrations, and the models behind them.\n\nAnalyze operational data from ERP, supplier portals, and shipping systems to surface bottlenecks, blocked orders, and disruptions.\n\nPrototype inventory and network optimization - multi-site / multi-warehouse stock optimization, warehouse slotting, and staffing/labor planning.\n\nBuild first-pass forecasting models for material demand (to feed MRP planning parameters) and for the reliability of supplier commitments - how likely a supplier is to actually hit committed dates and quantities.\n\nShip these inside the tools planners already use, not as notebooks on a shelf - and reach for the simplest method that works.\n\nPartner directly with planners, buyers, and ops managers to scope small MVPs, deploy frequently, and iterate on real feedback.\n\nWhat You’ll Bring\nCurrently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Industrial/Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, Data Science, or similar.\n\nComfort writing Python and SQL, and a genuine interest in building tools - not just analyzing data.\n\nSome exposure to at least one of: optimization / operations research or basic ML / anomaly detection (coursework, projects, or prior internships all count).\n\nFamiliarity with data analysis and dashboarding; bonus for experience with pipelines, APIs, or ERP systems.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication - able to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nBuilder mindset - enjoys ambiguity, takes ownership, and is excited to make things work better, not just measure them.\n\nExperience in a tech-enabled operations environment is a plus- energy, logistics, or manufacturing.\n\nAbout the Team\nOur Supply Chain team tackles the challenge of sourcing battery cells, assembling high-capacity packs, and forging vendor partnerships to produce and deliver the industry's lowest-cost, highest-quality home battery systems at unprecedented scale.\nBy optimizing landed costs through strategic global sourcing, domestic manufacturing ramp-up, and durable supplier relationships, your work directly powers Base Power's mission of advancing human prosperity through energy abundance - delivering reliable whole-home backup and below-market electricity rates to tens of thousands of households.\nThese efforts drive uniquely massive impact by fueling one of America's fastest-growing distributed virtual power plants, already exceeding 200 MWh deployed and aggregating flexible storage to bolster the grid against surging demands from AI, electrification, and extreme weather.
