We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.\nAbout the Role\nBase is hiring an Engineering Technician to be the hands of our hardware team. You'll build, rework, test, and tear down Base hardware, from prototypes in the lab to units returned from the field. You'll work side by side with design, test, and reliability engineers to get hardware ready for test, find out what broke and why, and get fixes back into the product fast.\nWhat You'll Do\nBuild, assemble, and troubleshoot prototypes, test setups, and lab equipment.\n\nSolder and rework boards, build harnesses, and wire thermocouples and data acquisition.\n\nPrep, inspect, and run hardware before and after test, including high-voltage battery systems.\n\nTear down returned field units, run diagnostics, and help engineers find root cause.\n\nBuild and improve the fixtures, tools, and processes that make test and failure analysis faster.\n\nTrack materials, timelines, and results so engineers have what they need and quality issues get flagged early.\n\nKeep the lab safe, clean, stocked, and organized, and work with vendors on equipment purchasing and service.\n\nWhat You'll Bring\n2+ years of hands-on technician experience in an engineering, test, assembly, or lab environment.\n\nBoard-level soldering and rework experience. This is a must.\n\nExperience working safely around high-voltage systems. This is a must.\n\nComfort with multimeters, power supplies, and standard lab tools.\n\nStrong attention to detail and the discipline to document what you did and what you found.\n\nClear communication with engineers and vendors.\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent. An associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related field is a plus.\n\nPreferred Skills\nLab experience with batteries, power electronics, or energy storage.\n\nTeardown and failure analysis of electronics or battery systems.\n\nOscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, and thermal cameras.\n\nHarness building and crimping.\n\nIPC J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721, or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.\n\nNFPA 70E or other high-voltage safety training.\n\nGoogle Workspace and basic IT troubleshooting.\n\nAbout the Team\nOur hardware reliability and test team breaks Base products before our members can. We run mechanical, electrical, environmental, and abuse testing from component to full system, track how the fleet holds up in the field, root-cause the failures that matter, and feed fixes straight back to design. Homeowners across the country rely on Base for whole-home backup and lower electricity bills. Our network of home batteries also helps keep the grid stable as demand climbs from AI, electrification, and extreme weather.
