You'll open it up, run the tests, and help engineers figure out exactly what broke and why. Your findings feed directly into design changes, firmware fixes, and line improvements on a product already running in homes. You'll also build the tools and processes that make failure analysis faster, and keep the lab running safely.\nWhat You'll Do\nTest returned hardware and help engineers find root cause.\n\nBuild and improve the fixtures, test equipment, and processes used to triage returns. Own the process and make it better.\n\nTrack throughput and results, flag new quality issues, and give engineers the context to prioritize fixes in firmware, the product, or the line.\n\nKeep the lab safe, clean, and organized.\n\nWhat You'll Bring\nHigh school diploma or equivalent. An associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field is a plus.\n\nHands-on experience supporting design, testing, or assembly in an engineering or technical environment.\n\nComfort with multimeters, power supplies, and standard lab tools. This is a must.\n\nStrong organization and attention to detail.\n\nClear communication with engineers and vendors.\n\nCuriosity about how things work and a desire to understand the hardware you test.\n\nPreferred Skills\nTeardown and failure analysis of electronics or batteries.\n\nSoldering, rework, and harness building.\n\nOscilloscopes, data acquisition, or thermal cameras.\n\nWorking safely around high voltage.\n\nGoogle Workspace and basic IT troubleshooting.\n\nAbout the Team\nOur hardware reliability and test team breaks Base products before our members can. We run mechanical, electrical, environmental, and abuse testing from component to full system, track how the fleet holds up in the field, root-cause the failures that matter, and feed fixes straight back to design. Homeowners across the country rely on Base for whole-home backup and lower electricity bills. Our network of home batteries also helps keep the grid stable as demand climbs from AI, electrification, and extreme weather.
