The division develops and produces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recycling and related products and services.\nDuring your shift as a 1st Class Mechanic, you will\nRecognize and practice safe work habits in all daily duties.\nInstall, rearrange, align, dismantle, repair, and reassemble complex equipment; diagnose complex equipment failures.\nPerform mechanic-skill work including fabrication, assembly, welding, burning, cutting, and pipefitting using oxyacetylene, plasma arc, shielded arc, tungsten arc, flux-cored, carbon arc cutting and gouging, and submerged arc methods.\nOccasionally perform work in other trades (pipefitter, rigger, rough carpentry, machinist, etc.).\nUse typical mechanic’s tools, tool-room inspection equipment, inspection gages, and involved shop math; operate production equipment to check work.\nWork from drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions and read, comprehend, and execute tasks from technical operating and maintenance manuals.\nInspect own and others’ work for quality and dimensional requirements.\nClean debris and lubricant from parts, equipment, and the work area.\nRepair piping and valves; install new pipe, valves, and control devices for equipment modifications.\nRig equipment for lifting with hoists or cranes, routinely handling loads of several thousand pounds.\nComplete routine paperwork and use basic computer skills to access CMMS information.\nIf you...\nHold a High School diploma or equivalent. \nHave prior experience working with rotating equipment or equivalent in a manufacturing environment.\nAre able to start, stop and operate all shop equipment.\nCan work with water soluble and oil-based lubricants.\nAre able to work on ladders, scaffolds and in pits and manually lift 50# intermittently (Heavier parts are lifted using other methods).\nCreate your own chemistry with you@BASF\nThis is an Union position under United Steel Workers (USW) and is covered under the collective bargaining agreement.
