We are looking for a Lab Technician to join our Performance Chemicals team in Elyria, OH.

BASF’s Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops andproduces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recyclingand related products and services.

As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in supporting production by performing routine and specialized testing. You will also be responsible for verifying the quality of materials before shipment to ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements.

During your 10-hour shift as a Lab Technician, you will

  • Perform a variety of analytical tests, including surface area, density, particle size, metals analysis (ICP-AES and XRF), and other laboratory evaluations using specialized equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with laboratory personnel to ensure accurate and timely completion of testing activities.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments and conduct routine calibrations to ensure reliable performance and data quality.
  • Record, compile, and report test results using SAP and LIMS systems.
  • Partner with production teams and technical stakeholders to support manufacturing and quality objectives.
  • Manage retain sample inventory and ensure proper sample storage and traceability.
  • Prepare and coordinate samples for shipment to customers and external laboratories.
  • Promote a safe work environment by adhering to safety standards and procedures.
  • Work a schedule of four 10-hour shifts (Friday through Monday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) upon completion of training.

If you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, or a related physical science discipline; candidates with a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of relevant laboratory experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrate hands-on laboratory experience, including sample preparation, analytical testing, data interpretation, and the operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Experience using laboratory information management systems (LIMS), databases, or other data management tools is preferred.
