This individual will prep food to be used in recipes or served on the salad bar, prepare food to be served during breakfast and lunch, and serve food during the lunch meal period. This will all be done while ensuring adherence to food safety principles and regulations. The cafeteria cook works in all areas of the kitchen including the grill, deli sandwiches counter, pizza/pasta station, and salad area. This role requires flexibility, multitasking, and an attitude for excellent customer service.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nPrepares and cooks various items according to the weekly menu.\n\nCleans, cuts, and prepares fruits and vegetables to be used in recipes and for the salad bar.\n\nCompletes tasks outlined by daily prep list and the Chef’s instructions.\n\nApportions and serves food to customers (employees & guests) in a safe manner.\n\nEnsures the cleanliness and organization of equipment and work area by routinely cleaning and inspecting throughout shift.\n\nComplies with FDA and local food safety guidelines.\n\nALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED\n\nEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:\nMinimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent\n\nYears of experience: 2+ years of cooking experience, preferably in a restaurant or cafeteria setting\n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY\nExcellent verbal communication skills.\n\nBasic understanding of or ability to learn sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.\n\nBasic understanding of or ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.\n\nMust be able to work quickly and efficiently.\n\nMust be able to work well as part of a team.\n\nMust be able to work well under pressure.\n\nAbility to maintain personal cleanliness.\n\nTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:\nN/A\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nRegular walking, standing, and lifting.\n\nMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds.\n\nMust be able to lift, squat, bend, and be on your feet for extended periods of time.\n\nINDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:\nPerforms tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures.
