The role leads the accounting function, supports business decision-making, and maintains a strong internal control environment within a complex manufacturing and excise-duty business.\nReporting to: Finance Director\nTeam Management: 4 direct reports\nYour key responsibilities will include:\nFinancial Accounting & Reporting:\nLead all accounting activities and statutory reporting processes.\nOversee month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, financial statements, and audits.\nEnsure compliance with Romanian accounting standards, tax legislation, BAT policies, and internal controls.\nCoordinate relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities. \nTax & Compliance:\nEnsure compliance with corporate income tax, VAT, excise duties, and other tax obligations.\nReview and approve tax declarations and statutory filings.\nMonitor legislative changes and manage tax risks.\nAct as key contact for fiscal authorities and support tax audits and inspections.\nManage fiscal warehouse licenses and VAT fiscal representation responsibilities. \nInternal Controls & Governance:\nSupport SOX and non-SOX control frameworks and compliance requirements.\nCoordinate internal and external audits.\nMaintain strong governance, risk management, and control processes.\nOversee annual fixed asset and inventory counts and bi-annual master data quality reviews. \nTreasury & Insurance:\nCoordinate cash management, guarantees, insurance administration, and treasury compliance reporting.\nAct as liaison with shared service treasury teams and financial institutions. \nPeople Leadership:\nLead, develop, and coach the accounting team.\nSet clear objectives, manage performance, and ensure resource optimization.\nPromote high standards of financial discipline, accuracy, and continuous improvement.\nWhat are we looking for:\nEducation & Qualifications:\nUniversity degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics.\nCECCAR qualification (Certified Accountant) required.\nACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent qualification is an advantage or in progress. \nExperience:\nMinimum 7 years of leadership experience within accounting functions.\nStrong expertise in Romanian accounting, taxation, VAT, and excise regulations.\nExperience in manufacturing, FMCG, or regulated industries is highly desirable. \nSkills:\nStrong leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.\nAdvanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.\nExperience working with SAP, MS Excel, and financial reporting systems.\nExcellent English communication skills.\nAbility to collaborate effectively with senior management, auditors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.\nWhy This Role?\nThis is a high-impact leadership role within a major manufacturing operation, offering responsibility across accounting, taxation, governance, treasury, and compliance.
