This is a hands on role where you’ll drive system performance, energy efficiency, compliance and innovation while supporting teaching, enterprise and residential environments.\nAbout the Role\nLead and optimise the University's Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated control systems. \nAct as the University's technical expert for building controls, smart technologies and IoT integration. \nDiagnose, repair and improve complex building control systems. \nDesign, programme and implement control strategies and system upgrades. \nAnalyse operational data to identify performance improvements and energy-saving opportunities. \nManage specialist contractors and suppliers delivering BMS and controls services. \nLead control system and smart technology projects from concept through to completion. \nMaintain accurate documentation including control strategies, drawings and asset records. \nSupport statutory compliance and manage operational risks associated with building controls. \nWork closely with Estates and IT teams to ensure secure, reliable and resilient system operation. \nDevelop staff capability through training, mentoring and knowledge sharing. \nCoordinate responses to system failures and critical incidents.\nAbout You\nExperience with Trend BMS or equivalent building control platforms. \nStrong fault-finding and problem-solving skills within complex electrical and control systems. \nAbility to interpret electrical, mechanical and controls schematics. \nExperience supervising contractors and supporting operational teams. \nStrong stakeholder management and communication skills. \nAbility to analyse technical data and produce meaningful reports. \nKnowledge of HVAC systems, energy management and smart building technologies. \nA proactive, solution-focused approach with strong attention to safety and compliance. \nAdditional Information\nSalary Grade 7 - starting from £39,560 rising to £44,352 per annum\nThe salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay.
