This is an exciting opportunity for a committed chef to develop their leadership skills while contributing to a diverse catering operation that supports students, staff, visitors, conferences, weddings, summer schools and other special events.\nBased primarily at Newton Park Campus, you will deputise for the Head Chef when required and contribute to maintaining excellent culinary, service and food safety standards.\nEarly application is encouraged for this role as candidates will be interviewed on an ongoing basis, so the role may close early.\nAbout You\nWe are looking for someone who can:\nLead by example and support colleagues to succeed.\nOrganise and prioritise a varied workload effectively.\nDeliver excellent customer service and food quality.\nDemonstrate commercial awareness and use resources efficiently.\nEmbrace innovation and continuous improvement.\nCommunicate confidently and work collaboratively with others.\nSupport the development of colleagues through coaching and guidance.\nAdditional Information\nSalary Grade 5 - Starting from £30,180 rising to £33,662 per annum\nThe salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.\n\nSpecial conditions\nThe contract is 5 out of 7 days so a day off may be given in the week in order to work a weekend shift. Due to operational requirements some flexibility of working hours will be required in order to meet business needs. The department can be open 7 days a week and post holders will be required to work on a 5 out of 7 rotating pattern. Covering early mornings, evenings & weekends. Advanced notice will be provided.\nA driving licence is required. Some driving to other units may be needed.\nAnnual leave is to be approved by the Head Chef in accordance with the operational needs of the service. Peak business is September to December and several events in July, Annual leave will be limited throughout these periods\nThis post is based primarily at Newton Park; the postholder may be required to work at our other campuses.\n\nPlease note that as of April 2024, there has been a change in the UK’s sponsorship threshold.
