This position is a full-time opportunity located in the greater Washington, DC area.\nBattelle's Infrastructure Safety and Security (ISS) business is pursuing a high-profile support program for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) client. The scope of this program includes a full spectrum of research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) support. As we prepare for this opportunity, we are actively recruiting highly qualified candidates for anticipated roles.\nThe Software Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving computer and network software and specialized utilities based on user needs. This role applies computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to build and enhance software solutions, and may involve collaboration with hardware engineers to integrate systems and define performance specifications.\nResponsibilities\nAs a Software Developer, the selected individual will design and develop software solutions to support DHS programs and mission requirements. Responsibilities may include:\nDesigning, developing, and improving computer and network software, specialized utilities, and database systems based on user needs and mission requirements\nAnalyzing user and system requirements and applying computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to build effective software solutions\nUpdating and enhancing existing software applications to improve performance, functionality, and user experience\nMaintaining and developing databases within specific application areas, both independently and as part of a collaborative team\nCollaborating with hardware engineers to integrate systems and define performance specifications where applicable\nSupporting system-level analysis and integration efforts, including assessment of threats and vulnerabilities as they relate to software systems\nAssisting with technical assessment and evaluation activities to complement government technical experts in applying acquisition efforts and RDT&E toward the DHS mission\nCommunicating technical findings and recommendations effectively in written and verbal formats to diverse stakeholders\nKey Qualifications\nBachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in software development\nExperience in software development and database design and maintenance\nProficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word\nProven ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with diverse stakeholders\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently\nSecret level clearance with ability to obtain DHS Suitability\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrior experience supporting DHS programs\nActive DHS Suitability\nExperience providing assistance with program planning and oversight, exercise development and execution, and program evaluation\nExperience with system-level analysis, system integration support, and understanding of threats and vulnerabilities\nExperience with technical assessment and evaluation to support government technical experts in applying acquisition efforts and RDT&E toward accomplishing the DHS mission\nCompensation Data\nBattelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000 per year, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.
