This role owns the full transactional accounting cycle - accounts payable and travel & expense, revenue accounting, and accounts receivable - while also directly maintaining the general ledger accounts that fall outside the functional teams, including fixed assets, prepaids, cash and other corporate balance sheet accounts. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge, general ledger ownership, people management skills and deep familiarity with e-commerce revenue, payment and collections processes.\nWHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO: \nTeam Leadership & Oversight\nDirectly manage and develop the Accounting Supervisor, Revenue Accountant and Part-Time AR Manager\nServe as the escalation point for judgment calls, exceptions and unusual transactions\nConduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and career development planning for direct reports\nIdentify process improvement and automation opportunities across all owned functions\nAP & Travel and Expense (via Accounting Supervisor)\nReview and approve the AP aging and cash disbursement forecast\nOversee the Accounting Supervisor’s management of vendor master data controls, invoice-PO match exception resolution, and T&E policy compliance\nReview matters requiring elevated technical judgment: complex accrual estimates, vendor disputes, and contract interpretation\nRevenue Accounting\nReview monthly revenue-to-cash reconciliations across all sales channels (e.g. Shopify, Amazon, wholesale, etc.)\nOversee revenue recognition policy application, including treatment of chargebacks, returns/refund reserves, and payment processor fees\nReview and approve judgmental reserve estimates\nAccounts Receivable (via AR Manager)\nOwn the AR reserve in partnership with the AR Manager\nOversee the AR Manager’s direction of collections aging, customer credit memos and deduction management (particularly wholesale chargebacks and allowances)\nEnsure cash application accuracy and timely resolution of unapplied cash through the AR Manager and AR Specialist\nClose Process & Controls\nOwn the close calendar and checklist across all managed functions and direct GL accounts; ensure deadlines are met\nPrepare and/or review balance sheet reconcilations for all accounts - prior to Controller sign-off\nPrepare and review manual and non-system journal entries for accuracy and appropriate support\nSupport internal control design, documentation and testing\nGeneral Ledger & Corporate Accounting\nDirectly prepare and/or review monthly cash reconciliations for all operating, payroll and merchant/payment processor bank accounts\nOwn the fixed asset sub-ledger: capitalization policy application, monthly depreciation, disposals, internal software capitalizations\nMaintain prepaid expense and accrued liability schedules not owned by AP/T&E, Revenue or AR\nRecord and reconcile debt instruments, as applicable\nRecord and account for investments and related interest\nPrepare and/or review lease (ASC 842) and other corporate schedules as applicable\nService as secondary technical reviewer alongside the Controller for non-routine GL entries and account classifications outside the transactional functions above\nWHAT WE WANT TO SEE: \nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required\nCPA strongly preferred\n7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity\nStrong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP\nExperience with multi-channel e-commerce accounting strongly preferred\nProficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred) and advanced Excel skills\nDemonstrated experience managing a monthly close process and reconciliation cadence\nDemonstrated success automating accounting processes and reducing close cycle time (e.g. saved searches, workflows, system integrations)\nExperience with AP/T&E automation platforms and CRM/AR tools\nSystems- and process-oriented, with a constant eye on automating and simplifying manual processes rather than managing around them\nComfortable operating with a high degree of ownership and accountability during time-sensitive close cycles\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document accounting conclusions and communicate effectively with non-accountants\nPosition will be remote (residing anywhere in the United States and authorized to work in the U.S.) Standard working hours to coincide with 9:00am-6:00pm EST\nWHAT WE OFFER: \nStarting salary range for this role is $155,000 - $170,000.
