Our internship program is designed to give you exposure to the different sides of construction management while allowing you to build experience throughout your college career.\nA Three-Year Construction Management Development Path\nAt Bauer, we believe the best way to learn construction management is to experience it from multiple perspectives. Our internship program is structured around three areas of the business:\nYour starting point is based on your experience. We consider your year in school, previous internships, construction experience, skills, and demonstrated knowledge when determining the appropriate placement within the program. Previous experience may allow you to enter the program beyond Year 1.\nYear 1 | Field Operations: Your first year is about learning construction from the ground up.\nYou’ll have opportunities to:\nGain hands-on experience on active commercial construction projects\nLearn how a jobsite operates from mobilization through completion\nWork alongside Superintendents, Project Managers, Project Engineers, trade partners, and skilled labor\nObserve and support daily safety and quality processes\nLearn how plans and specifications translate into physical construction\nAssist with jobsite documentation and coordination\nGain exposure to scheduling, materials, equipment, and subcontractor coordination\nDevelop an understanding of how different trades work together\nSupport carpenters, equipment operators, and skilled labor when needed\nYear 2 | Preconstruction: With a foundation in field operations, you'll begin learning how projects are planned and priced before construction begins.\nYou’ll have opportunities to:\nLearn estimating and preconstruction processes\nRead and interpret construction plans and specifications\nComplete quantity takeoffs\nAssist with bid solicitation and analysis\nLearn how subcontractors and vendors are selected and coordinated\nAssist with estimating and project budgeting\nGain exposure to project schedules and construction planning\nParticipate in preconstruction meetings\nLearn how decisions made before construction impact the jobsite and final project\nYear 3 | Project Management: By your third year, you'll begin connecting your field and preconstruction experience to the broader responsibilities of project management.\nYou’ll have opportunities to:\nSupport Project Managers and Project Engineers on active projects\nAssist with project coordination and documentation\nParticipate in project meetings\nSupport subcontractor and vendor coordination\nGain experience with project schedules and job cost review\nAssist with procurement and material tracking\nLearn how project changes, costs, schedules, and contracts are managed\nParticipate in communication with project stakeholders\nTake on defined project responsibilities with increasing independence\nApply what you've learned in the field and preconstruction to real project management decisions\nWhat We’re Looking For\nCurrently enrolled in a Construction Management or related program\nPrevious construction, internship, or related industry experience is a plus\nValid driver’s license\nInterest in commercial construction and construction management\nComfortable working in both office and jobsite environments\nComfortable with physical labor and working in varying weather conditions\nGeneral safety knowledge; PPE will be provided\nMicrosoft Project and/or Procore experience is a plus\nSelf-starter with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills\nWillingness to learn, ask questions, take feedback, and get involved\nYou don't have to know everything when you walk through our doors. We’re looking for students who are curious, willing to work, and ready to learn.\nPhysical Demands / Work Environment\nConstruction is a mix of office and jobsite life.
