You will handle exact tax setup, withholding, reporting, reconciliation, and adherence to regulations across federal, state, and local levels. This position fits a meticulous individual aiming to develop a career in payroll, tax, accounting, or human resources operations. Your contributions will be an integral part of our ambitious goals and world-class service.\nWhat you'll be doing\nAssist with payroll tax inquiries for employees through phone, chat, email, and/or tickets.\nSupport employees working in multiple states and local taxing jurisdictions in the United States and Puerto Rico.\nManage the setup and maintenance of employee tax profiles, including federal, state, local, county, city, school district, and other applicable withholding requirements.\nReview payroll data to ensure tax withholdings, taxable wages, deductions, and employer tax liabilities are accurate before payroll processing is finalized.\nPrepare, review, and submit payroll tax payments, returns, and filings on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.\nReconcile payroll tax reports, wage records, general ledger data, and third-party tax provider reports.\nResearch and resolve payroll tax notices, agency inquiries, discrepancies, and employee tax questions under the mentorship of senior team members.\nMaintain accurate payroll tax records, documentation, filing confirmations, and audit support materials.\nTrack updates in federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and revise procedures or reference documents accordingly.\nPartner with Payroll, HR, Finance, Accounting, and external tax vendors to support compliant and timely payroll operations.\nAssist with year-end payroll tax activities, including W-2 review, taxable wage validation, and jurisdictional reporting support.\nWhat you'll bring\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, human resources, or a related field preferred.\n2 years of background in payroll, tax, accounting, finance, HR operations, and customer support.\nBasic understanding of US tax (Federal, State, and Local), Social Security, and Medicare; and payroll concepts, deductions, or compliance processes.\nStrong focus on detail and capability to examine data for accuracy and thoroughness.\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and standard office applications.\nExpected to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion.\nStrong interpersonal skills and capacity to handle recurring deadlines; clear written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience using payroll HRIS or tax filing systems.\nInterest in pursuing payroll-related certifications, such as Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional.\nExperience researching tax rules, agency mentorship, or compliance procedures.\nEqual Employment Opportunity\nBaxter is an equal opportunity employer.
