We strive for efficient and effective operations, and we hold each other accountable for delivering exceptional results.\nHere, you will find more than just a job-you will find purpose and pride.\nPosition Summary\nThe Quality Laboratory Technician - Supplemental Destructive Testing (SDT) is responsible for performing specialized destructive testing of sterile parenteral products to support particulate matter investigations, process monitoring, product quality surveillance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position executes membrane filtration testing methods designed to detect and characterize visible particulate matter that may not be identified through conventional manual visual inspection processes.\nThe technician performs sample preparation, filtration, microscopy, particulate characterization, laboratory documentation, equipment maintenance, and data collection activities in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), site procedures, and applicable pharmacopeial requirements. The role requires strict adherence to contamination-control practices while working in controlled laboratory environments.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nPerform Supplemental Destructive Testing (SDT) on IV solution and sterile parenteral products using approved filtration methods.\nPrepare samples for testing, including product handling, unit manipulation, and filtration system setup.\nConduct membrane filtration testing within ISO 5 or similarly controlled environments.\nInspect filtration membranes using visual inspection techniques and stereomicroscopy.\nDetect, classify, document, and trend particulate matter observations.\nMaintain contamination-control practices through proper gowning, aseptic behaviors, and environmental awareness.\nPerform clean blank filtrations and suitability checks prior to routine testing activities.\nOperate and maintain laboratory equipment including: Laminar flow hoods Vacuum filtration systems Stereomicroscopes Digital imaging systems Light measurement devices Sample preparation equipment\nCapture particulate images and assist with particle characterization investigations.\nAccurately complete laboratory notebooks, worksheets, logbooks, electronic systems, and testing records.\nReview testing results for completeness and compliance with procedural requirements.\nSupport investigations involving visible particulate matter, foreign material, and product quality defects.\nAssist with laboratory studies, method improvements, equipment qualifications, and continuous improvement projects.\nMonitor laboratory cleanliness and maintain an organized, inspection-ready work environment.\nParticipate in laboratory training and qualification programs.\nSupport internal audits, regulatory inspections, and customer audits as required.\nIdentify and escalate atypical results, procedural deviations, or equipment concerns to Quality leadership.\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation\nAssociate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering Technology, Quality Sciences, or a related scientific discipline preferred.\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nExperience\n1-3 years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, quality, or regulated environment preferred.\nExperience within pharmaceutical, medical device, biologics, or sterile manufacturing industries preferred.\nExperience performing visual inspection or particulate evaluation is desirable.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nUnderstanding of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).\nKnowledge of cGMP requirements and quality systems.\nStrong attention to detail and observational skills.\nAbility to identify small particulate defects and visual anomalies.\nBasic understanding of microscopy and laboratory testing principles.\nAbility to maintain focus during repetitive inspection and testing activities.\nStrong organizational and recordkeeping skills.\nEffective verbal and written communication abilities.\nAbility to work independently while following detailed procedures.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and laboratory documentation systems.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to sit or stand for extended periods.\nAbility to perform repetitive manual tasks requiring fine motor dexterity.\nAbility to visually inspect small particles and defects under varying magnification levels.\nAbility to wear required laboratory PPE for extended periods.\nAbility to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.\nCorrectable vision sufficient to perform microscopic and visual inspection activities.\nWorking Conditions\nControlled laboratory environment.\nFrequent work within ISO-classified or cleanroom environments.\nRequired use of laboratory and cleanroom personal protective equipment (PPE).\nExposure to routine laboratory chemicals, cleaning agents, and sterile product materials.\nMay require occasional off-shift or weekend support for investigations and special studies.\nKey Performance Indicators\nTesting accuracy and data integrity.\nCompliance with laboratory procedures and documentation requirements.\nTimely completion of assigned testing activities.\nSuccessful maintenance of qualification status.\nInvestigation support responsiveness.\nAdherence to contamination-control and safety requirements.\nAudit and inspection readiness.\nWe understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more clear with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $40,000-$55,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
