If you’re hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there’s only one choice.\nAR&I Technical Trainee\nJob Purpose:\nThis trainee position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in plant AR&I operations and to gain initial experience in practical field trials with an international seed company.\nThis program is idealfor graduating students who want to pursue a career in agronomic research and crop production. \nKey Tasks and Responsibilities:\nParticipate in all aspects of seed preparation, planting, harvesting and data collection.\nPerform computer-related activities, including handheld data collection, data management and providing support for all day-to-day activities.\nCoordinate and assist in all seed preparation operations including seed shelling, packaging, treating and packet arrangement.\nCoordinate and assist with all field operations including machine planting yield trial plots, nurseries, pollinations, data collection and machine harvesting of yield trial plots. Lead field teams and assist with timely and accurate data collection from research plots.\nAssist in implementation of site safety programs to ensure a safe work environment. Actively participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies. Communicate with farmers to coordinate off-station trials.\nApproximately 50% of the role involves off-site fieldwork and travel. \nQualifications and Competencies:\nDiploma with appropriate experience in any Agriculture discipline.\nBasic knowledge of crop production, farming practices and farm equipment operation.\nKnowledge of mobile data collection is an advantage.\nDriver’s license.\nMust be a Member of AIZ \nAs part of our commitment to inclusion, we want to ensure persons with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodations.
