If you’d like to be part of a team that offers flexibility and support to deliver results, open and timely communication and a climate that fosters motivation and clarity, you’ve come to the right place\nEngineering Intern\nIn this role, you will apply engineering and safety principles in a chemical manufacturing environment, contributing your engineering knowledge to projects that improve processes, equipment, and overall plant performance.\nYOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nThe primary responsibilities of this role are to:\nWork with and learn from Engineers and Staff to improve chemical processes, including yield and process capacity improvements, waste reductions, reduction of cycle time, cost improvements, and/or modification/design of equipment;\nTroubleshoot and provide recommendations for mechanical equipment, improving the reliability and cost associated with a process area’s mechanical equipment;\nSupport design, installation, and start-up of automatic process control, material handling, and distributive control systems;\nAssist engineers in development of project objectives and scope by analyzing customer requirements and producing sketches, drawings, written descriptions, or specifications for customer approval;\nEnsure compliance with engineering standards, engineering procedures, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards, site safety standards, pressure safety design, and environmental standards on all projects;\nGain insight into maintenance and reliability improvement programs for chemical plants;\nPerform and check engineering calculations following standard methods and principles for projects;\nAssist with the procurement process, including equipment specifications, bid evaluation, and contract administration;\nAssist with conducting engineering cost, feasibility, and planning studies by analyzing customer needs and data, including researching, investigating actions, coordinating with other engineers, and providing recommendations to the customer;\nCollaborate with production and technical staff on day-to-day activities such as process troubleshooting and problem solving;\nWork with all areas of operations and compliance organizations to drive attainment of project goals;\nSupport process improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives site-wide;\nPresent major project findings or updates in an oral and/or written report-style presentation at the end of the assignment.\nKey Working Relationships\nUnit Leads, Process and Maintenance Engineers, Process Support Staff, Production and Maintenance Technicians.\nWHO YOU ARE\nBayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:\nRequired Qualifications:\nCurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline;\nSuccessfully completed sophomore year or higher and returning to school upon completion of the intern assignment;\nAbility to commute daily to and from the work location in Muscatine, IA;\nWillingness to work in a chemical manufacturing environment;\nAbility to work 40 hours per week and physical ability to climb stairs and ladders.\nDesired Qualifications:\nProficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\nEmployees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $24.00 to $45.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant).
