You will support scientific, controlled environment, and engineering personnel, developing a broad set of skills through diverse work and training opportunities while contributing to high-quality plant production and data collection.\nYOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nThe primary responsibilities of this role include:\nPerform under supervision in all functions of the greenhouses and growth chambers, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP), including planting, cultivating, pollinating, pollen collection, harvesting, irrigation/fertigation, and related activities;\nPerform under supervision laboratory work utilizing balances, microscopes, moisture analysis, and similar equipment;\nConduct routine basic greenhouse and growth chamber maintenance, including basic equipment preventive maintenance and repair, basic cleaning, power washing, probe and sensor maintenance, etc.;\nPerform scientific data entry utilizing Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams;\nFollow daily direction and work priorities from Researchers, Scientists, the Controlled Environment Coordinator, and Plant Care Team;\nAssist in other projects and duties as required or assigned;\nDemonstrate teamwork by completing quality tasks through daily communication and coordination;\nSolve routine problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning;\nAchieve commitment to safety and adhere to safety protocols and best practices;\nAssist Scientists and Engineers in field settings by prepping and organizing experiments and materials, data collection, data organization, material handling, and other work functions similar to those performed in the greenhouse;\nTravel with Scientists and Engineers to field locations to perform all work functions as needed based on project needs and plant growth stages.\nWHO YOU ARE\nBayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:\nRequired Qualifications:\nIn pursuit of an agriculturally based (including but not limited to Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or Controlled Environment) and/or engineering-based Bachelor’s degree or higher while attending an accredited college, with a minimum of 45 credit hours completed;\nStrong relationship and interpersonal skills;\nCollaboration and team-focused mindset, working with international and domestic employees;\nEmerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment;\nHigh level of maturity and strong willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly;\nExcellent results orientation and agility;\nSelf-starting, interested in trying new things and learning new skills;\nBasic proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel;\nWillingness to travel;\nActive and valid driver's license;\nMust be able-bodied and able to perform work in hot/humid environments as needed.\nEmployees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant).
