If you’re hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there’s only one choice.\nPostdoctoral Scientist: Functional Genome Engineering\nPostdoctoral Scientist: Functional Genome Engineering\nAs a Postdoctoral Scientist in Functional Genome Engineering, you will join Bayer Crop Science R&D as a key contributor to functional genomics and high-throughput (HTP) screening initiatives. In this role, you bridge wet lab and computational biology approaches to identify novel targets and biological pathways in organisms of interest. Working closely with a multidisciplinary research team, you will serve as a technical expert responsible for establishing advanced functional genomics platforms, designing and executing HTP genetic perturbation screens, and generating insights that support decision-making, problem-solving, and pipeline innovation across the organization.\nYOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign and execute genetic perturbation screens in various organisms of interest and cell lines;\nEstablish and optimize gene perturbation tools and reagents for various applications;\nConduct in-depth data analyses and design controlled experiments in collaboration with cross-functional partners, coordinating their implementation to enable project success;\nUnderstand and anticipate broader project and team interests, identifying, proposing, and performing complementary analyses to enrich insights from multiple modalities and data layers;\nConduct complex activities that require specialized knowledge and the broad application of scientific principles;\nTake initiative in keeping current with literature in areas of assignment and professional interest;\nMaintain detailed record-keeping and required documentation;\nDemonstrate commitment to inclusion and safety, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.\nWHO YOU ARE\nBayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:\nRequired Qualifications:\nPh.D. in a biological or biomedical field, molecular or cell biology, genetics or genomics, bioinformatics, or a similar area;\nProven experience with CRISPR screens or related gene perturbation technologies using pooled or targeted approaches;\nExperience with next-generation transcriptomics analysis or a related area;\nExperience working in an AWS cloud computing environment and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, etc.);\nFamiliarity with innovative or emerging fields of study;\nStrong problem-solving skills with a commitment to high-quality deliverables and the ability to build productive internal and external relationships.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with library preparation for high-throughput pooled or targeted approaches screening techniques;\nKnowledge of machine learning applications for functional genomics;\nExperience with agricultural specimens;\nExperience collaborating across multiple teams, fostering a team-based approach to research, and leveraging partnerships;\nExperience clearly communicating project plans and experimental results with partners and stakeholders, maintaining alignment on objectives and priorities.\nCompensation and Benefits\nEmployees can expect to be paid a salary between $78,600 - $118,000 per year. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
