If you’re hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there’s only one choice.\nSenior Data Engineer Tax\nAt Bayer we are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join the Enterprise Data & Analytics platform and support finance-related data products and integration activities across areas such as Financial Accounting, Controlling, Treasury, Banking and Tax.\nThe role acts as a key technical counterpart for Tax Data & Analytics initiatives and related finance data products.\nThis position combines data engineering and integration expertise with technical leadership, solution assessment and close collaboration with business and technology stakeholders. You will work in an established, global environment involving Tax, Finance, Enterprise Data & Analytics and external delivery partners, requiring strong internal ownership, stakeholder management, coordination of contributors and the ability to guide complex delivery initiatives.\nThe role goes beyond hands-on data engineering and requires the ability to lead technical delivery across complex initiatives in Tax. The successful candidate combines strong data engineering and integration expertise with stakeholder management, architectural assessment, vendor coordination and delivery leadership. Acting as a trusted technical partner across Tax, Finance and Enterprise Data & Analytics, this role helps shape and deliver business-critical data products and integration capabilities.\nYOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead the design and implementation of data flows connecting operational systems, analytics platforms and business intelligence solutions\nSupport finance-related data products and integration activities across areas such as Controlling, Treasury, Banking and Tax\nTranslate business requirements into technical concepts and implementable work packages\nProvide technical leadership for internal and external engineering teams and be accountable for delivery quality, technical consistency and adherence to architectural standards.\nOwn the technical assessment of architectural proposals and challenge implementations where quality, scalability or delivery risks are identified.\nReview solution quality and identify technical and delivery risks\nSupport architectural decisions and ensure alignment with agreed blueprints\nGuide implementation and release decisions\nDrive the delivery of complex data integration services and large-scale data products across multiple stakeholder groups.\nUndertake data profiling and source system analysis\nPresent insights and findings to business and technical stakeholders\nHelp select appropriate technologies and integration approaches for resilient and scalable data solutions\nCommunicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a multidisciplinary environment\nRespond to issues involving data products, services and processes and support their resolution\nProduce data models across multiple subject areas\nCompare and align different data models and apply industry-recognized modelling patterns and standards\nDesign and support metadata management solutions and repositories\nIdentify opportunities to reuse existing data flows and integration capabilities\nLead the development of data streaming solutions\nReview requirements and specifications and define relevant test conditions\nWHO YOU ARE\nDegree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field\nExperience in Data Engineering, Data Integration, Data Analytics or related disciplines\nExperience working on enterprise-scale data engineering and integration related initiatives\nExperience with business-critical enterprise data platforms and complex stakeholder environments\nProven track record of leading complex cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across business and technology organizations.\nPrevious hands-on technical experience combined with the ability to guide delivery and assess technical implementations\nAbility to understand architecture, code quality, solution design and engineering trade-offs\nUnderstanding of data integration patterns, data architecture and data modelling principles\nAbility to translate business requirements into implementable technical approaches\nAbility to identify technical and delivery risks and challenge technical decisions when needed\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills\nExperience collaborating across multidisciplinary and international teams\nExperience with Microsoft Azure or other Hyperscaler, Databricks, SQL, Python and/or PySpark\nFluent English, both written and spoken\nNICE TO HAVE\nExperience working with Finance-related domains and understand additional dimensions like compliance, audit and risk activities\nExperience gained through consulting or a treck record across different size enterprise environments\n\nYOUR APPLICATION\n\nThis is your opportunity to tackle the world’s biggest challenges with us: Maintaining our health, feeding growing populations and slowing the rate of climate change.
