AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nConnectivity Platform Development\nDesign, develop and maintain scalable AWS-based IoT services and applications.\nBuild secure and reliable backend services and APIs using Python.\nDevelop cloud-native solutions supporting device onboarding, provisioning, registration, telemetry ingestion, alarm processing, software distribution, file transfer and remote service capabilities.\nContribute to architecture decisions and technology roadmaps for Bayer’s connectivity platform.\nEnsure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, maintainable, and compliant with organizational quality standards.\nSupport the strategic transition from existing connectivity platforms such as ThingWorx toward cloud-native AWS IoT-based connectivity solutions.\nBackend Engineering and API Development\nDesign and develop backend services, APIs, and integration components using Python.\nBuild services that support device communication, telemetry processing, alarm handling, file movement, remote service workflows, and platform integrations.\nDesign REST APIs and service contracts for integration between cloud services, device software and enterprise applications.\nContribute to microservices architecture, event-driven design and distributed application patterns.\nEnsure backend services are testable, observable, maintainable, and suitable for regulated product development environments.\nDevice Connectivity and Integration\nCollaborate closely with Device Software teams to integrate medical devices with cloud-based connectivity services.\nDefine and implement secure communication mechanisms including MQTT, HTTPS, TLS, and certificate-based authentication.\nSupport secure device onboarding, registration, identity management and lifecycle management.\nDrive integration testing across cloud services, device software, and enterprise applications.\nAssist in defining communication contracts, APIs, and integration patterns between connected devices and cloud services.\nTroubleshoot device-to-cloud connectivity issues across application, network, authentication and cloud service layers.\nCloud Engineering and AWS Platform Services\nDevelop and maintain services leveraging AWS IoT Core and related AWS services.\nImplement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and CloudFormation.\nSupport cloud deployments across development, validation, and production environments.\nConfigure and maintain cloud resources required for scalable, secure, and reliable IoT platform operations.\nMonitor platform performance, availability, scalability, and operational health.\nOptimize platform services for reliability, maintainability, security, and cost efficiency.\nTroubleshooting and Operational Support\nServe as a technical escalation point for complex platform and connectivity-related issues.\nPerform deep troubleshooting across cloud infrastructure, backend services, APIs, networking, authentication, connectivity workflows, and device communication layers.\nConduct root cause investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions.\nSupport production environments and contribute to continuous operational improvement.\nDevelop and improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability capabilities.\nSupport incident management, problem management, and operational readiness high quality, security, and compliance standards.\nWork with global teams to coordinate dependencies across cloud, device software, quality, cybersecurity, and operations.\nSecurity, Quality and Compliance\nApply cybersecurity best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.\nSupport operation and maintenance of solutions within regulated and GxP-compliant environments.\nCollaborate with Quality, Regulatory Affairs and Cybersecurity teams to support compliance, validation and audit-related activities.\nSupport secure software development practices, vulnerability remediation, encryption, identity management, and certificate handling.\nContribute to technical documentation, architecture documentation, operational procedures and engineering best practices.\nEnsure solutions are developed and maintained in alignment with healthcare technology, quality and cybersecurity expectations.\nUI and Cross-Technology Collaboration\nWork effectively with teams responsible for user-facing applications and platform interfaces.\nMaintain a basic understanding of UI and front-end technologies such as Node.js and React.js.\nContribute to technical discussions involving APIs, front-end integration, workflow behavior, and user-facing connectivity capabilities.\nCollaborate across backend, cloud, device software and UI layers to support end-to-end platform delivery.\nCollaboration and Engineering Excellence\nWork within global cross-functional teams across R&D, Device Software, Service, Product, Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity and ARE:\nEducation\nBachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, or related technical discipline.\nExperience\n5 to 7+ years of professional software engineering, cloud engineering, connectivity platform, or related technology experience.\nMinimum 3 years of hands-on experience developing solutions on AWS.\nStrong experience building backend applications, services and APIs using Python.\nExperience developing cloud-native applications and distributed systems.\nHands-on experience with AWS IoT Core and related AWS services.\nExperience working with REST APIs, microservices, and integration architectures.\nExperience with MQTT, HTTPS, TLS, certificate management, and secure communication protocols.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.\nExperience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\nExperience operating and supporting production systems.\nExperience working within Agile product development environments.\nExperience supporting release planning, deployment of readiness, release coordination, and change management activities.\nExperience performing deep troubleshooting across cloud, application, networking, authentication and device communication layers.\nExperience in Medical Devices, MedTech, Healthcare,
