Working with business, data and platform teams, you will clarify data ownership, support standards and controls, improve metadata and documentation, and help colleagues use data confidently and responsibly. Your work will strengthen accountability, improve data quality and enable teams to derive greater value from data.\nWHY JOIN THE TEAM\nJoin a collaborative team shaping how data is governed and used across a complex global media business. You will work with senior stakeholders, data owners and technical teams, influence practical governance solutions, and help build a culture of clear accountability and trusted data. The role offers broad exposure across BBC Studios and the opportunity to develop your expertise in data governance, data quality, metadata and data management.\nYOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:\nHelp develop, implement and continuously improve the BBC Studios Data Governance framework, standards and best practices across data domains.\nEstablish and maintain clear data ownership and accountability with domain owners and senior stakeholders, using the Alation data catalogue and related governance processes.\nProvide pragmatic advice and support on data governance and data quality queries, taking account of BBC Studios’ complex organisational structure and business needs.\nPromote data governance disciplines and culture through education, metadata and data-management guidance, and accessible documentation that is widely shared and understood.\nUse data tools, reporting and knowledge sharing to improve data accessibility, transparency and informed decision-making across the organisation.\nCollaborate with Platform and technical teams to embed governance principles into data systems, applications and infrastructure.\nSupport day-to-day governance operations, including the team mailbox, routing queries to the appropriate team member and working with third-party vendors where required.\nYOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\nESSENTIAL CRITERIA:\nExperience in data governance within a large or complex organisation, supported by experience in a data analyst role or equivalent.\nProven experience developing and/or implementing data domain structures, ownership models and accountability frameworks in a complex organisation.\nStrong knowledge of data management, including governance standards, metadata management and data quality principles.\n Excellent influencing, relationship-building and written and verbal communication skills across business, technical and governance functions.\nDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior stakeholders and third-party vendors.\nDESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:\nHands-on experience with complex datasets or big-data environments, SQL and data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI or similar.\nExperience with data catalogues such as Alation or Collibra.\nExperience working with cloud data warehouses or platforms such as Snowflake or GCP.\nKnowledge of data quality metrics, measures and monitoring approaches.\nIf you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.\nNEXT STEPS\nWe appreciate your interest in this position and understand how important this opportunity is to you.
