The role requires independent claim handling, strong analytical skills, and the ability to evaluate legal liability, coverage, and damages while delivering high-quality customer service to insureds, brokers, and internal stakeholders.\nHow You Will Contribute:\nIndependently investigate, evaluate, and manage professional liability claims from inception through resolution.\nAnalyze coverage issues and determine applicability of policy terms, conditions, and exclusions.\nEstablish appropriate reserves and adjust them as necessary based on claim developments.\nDevelop and execute claim resolution strategies, including negotiation and settlement.\nGuide litigation strategy, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation.\nAttend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as required.\nEvaluate liability and damages of exposure using legal, factual, and industry-specific knowledge.\nProvide accurate and timely financial forecasting on claims portfolios.\nMaintain proactive communication with insureds, brokers, and management.\nDeliver clear, concise, and timely claim updates and coverage determinations.\nSupport underwriting teams with claim insights and loss trends.\nEnsure all claim handling adheres to regulatory requirements, internal guidelines, and best practices.\nPrepare reports for management, carriers, reinsurers, and auditors as needed.\nIdentify emerging issues, trends, and exposures within the professional liability space.\nProvide feedback to underwriting and risk management on loss drivers and prevention strategies.\nLicenses & Certifications:\nNYS Adjuster License required; multiple states preferred.\nSkills & Experience to be Successful:\nJD degree preferred. \n3-5 years of experience handling professional liability claims.\nNYS Adjuster License required, multiple states preferred\nStrong knowledge of claims practices, litigation processes, and insurance coverage.\nExperience managing complex and/or high-exposure claims.\nDemonstrated ability to work independently and make sound judgment decisions.\nExcellent negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nProficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office suite\nPreferred\nExperience in one or more specialty areas (e.g., Education, Public Entity, EPLI, E&O).\nPrior litigation experience or legal background.\nFamiliarity with excess and surplus lines or specialty insurance markets.\nExposure to reinsurance reporting and complex coverage issues.\nPay Range\n$95,000 - $135,000 AnnualThe pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.\nTeammate Benefits & Total Well-Being\nWe go beyond standard benefits, focusing on the total well-being of our teammates, including:\nHealth Benefits: Medical/Rx, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance \nFinancial Benefits: ESPP; 401k; Student Loan Assistance; Tuition Reimbursement \nMental Health & Wellness: Free Mental Health & Enhanced Advocacy Services\nBeyond Benefits: Paid Time Off, Holidays, Preferred Partner Discounts and more. \nNot reflective of all benefits.
