You’ll guide People Services, disability management, health and safety, and wellbeing; advise on complex employee and labour relations matters; and help build practical, consistent people practices across BCAA.\nWorking closely with business leaders and colleagues across People & Culture, you’ll bring sound judgment to sensitive issues, develop your teams, and turn employee feedback and emerging workplace needs into meaningful improvements.\nWho you are:\nYou’re a trusted advisor who builds strong relationships and gives leaders clear, practical recommendations. \nYou’re a thoughtful people leader who enjoys coaching teams, setting priorities, and improving how services are delivered. \nYou bring care, fairness, and sound judgment to complex employee matters and difficult conversations. \nYou’re comfortable working in a unionized environment and building productive relationships with union representatives. \nYou can connect the work of employee relations, disability management, wellbeing, and health and safety to support a strong team member experience. \nYou use data and feedback to spot risks, assess what’s working, and make improvements. \nWhat you’ll do:\nLead and develop the teams responsible for People Services, disability management, and health and safety. \nServe as the primary People & Culture partner for an assigned client group, advising leaders on workforce needs, performance, organizational change, and employee matters. \nLead complex workplace investigations and provide recommendations on resolution options, risks, and next steps. \nSupport collective bargaining, manage grievances, and advise leaders on applying collective agreements. \nOversee disability management, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work practices, including complex cases. \nLead BCAA’s health and safety program, maintaining compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements and keeping policies and practices current. \nOwn our wellbeing program and mental wellness strategy, delivering a quarterly calendar of initiatives, events, webinars, and resources. \nKeep core employee documents and people practices current as employment requirements evolve. \nPartner with the People Experience team to deliver people programs and use employee feedback and program data to improve outcomes. \nWhat you bring:\nPost-secondary education in HR, business or a related field.\nAt least 8-10 years of progressive People & Culture experience, including at least three years leading a team or function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nStrong HR business partnering experience, including advising leaders on complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations.\nExperience in a unionized environment, including grievance management and collective agreement interpretation.\nExperience overseeing or working closely with disability management, workplace accommodation, wellbeing, and health and safety programs.\nStrong working knowledge of BC employment and labour legislation, human rights obligations, and WorkSafeBC requirements.\nThe ability to build trusted relationships, navigate difficult conversations, and provide clear, practical recommendations.\nSound judgment, discretion, and the ability to balance employee needs, business priorities, and organizational risk.\nStrong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to use data and feedback to improve programs while managing competing priorities.\nProficiency with HR systems, such as Workday, and Microsoft Office. Experience in the insurance or mobility industries is an asset.\nThe salary range for this position is $130,000-$150,000 per year and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity.
