THE OPPORTUNITY
TheAnalyst/Associate plays an integral role in evaluating and supporting primarily direct private equity investments and select fund commitments to strategic partners.They have a key role in investment strategy development and work within deal teams to evaluate investment opportunities and present recommendations to the investment committee. This work includes rigorous analysis, sophisticated financial modeling, and collaboration with outside professionals such as strategic partners, investment bankers, consultants, and lawyers to prepare investment committee materials, conduct due diligence and support deal execution. Following an investment, theAnalyst/Associateremainsinvolved with portfolio companies by monitoring performance andsupporting management or strategic partners on value-creation initiatives, such as follow-on M&A,financingsand strategic initiatives.

The Private Equity department manages a diverseglobalportfolio of approximately $36billion in global private equity investmentscomprisingof fund, direct and co-investments. Portfolio growth over the coming years will be driven by an increased emphasis on direct investment, strong partnerrelationshipsand actively creating value from the portfolio to deliver superior returns for our clients.
Our department currently consists of ~65professionals spanning officeslocatedin Victoria,Londonand New York City, organized into six sub-teams: Direct Investments, Fund Investments, Venture & Growth,Portfolio Performance, Reporting & Analytics, and Operations. Our Direct Investments team can be further broken down into six sector-focused teams that cover theFinancial andBusiness Services, Consumer, Healthcare, Industrials, Technology, Media & Communicationsand Capital Solutions.
WHAT YOU BRING
An undergraduate degreewith high academic standing
1-5 years relevant experience in areas such as private equity, investment banking, strategy consulting and corporate development or equivalent experience
Strongskills in financial modeling, analysis, valuation, and research
Strongwrittenand verbalcommunication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise analysis
High degree of attention to detail
Ability to effectively manage projects under pressure and within tight deadlines
Solid business acumen and judgement
Ability to function both independently and as part of a high-performance team
Proficiencyin financial databases (CapIQ,FactSet,PitchBook, Refinitiv) and data room analysis
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Investment Analysis and Execution
Supports the preliminary analysis of private equity investment opportunities, including review of company financials, management meetings, and development of valuation frameworks across methodologies
Takes a structured approach withappropriate levelof analysis in various workstreams of due diligence
Works as an integrated part of deal teams, supporting the diligence of commercial, financial, tax, legal, governance, humanresourceand ESG aspects of prospective investments
Develops investment thesis andidentifiesmerits, risks, and mitigating factors for potential investment opportunities
Synthesizes findings, keyanalysisand supporting documents in an organized manner
Writes effective screeners, dealalertsand investment memorandums, and prepares IC materials and coordinates the internal review/approval process
Interacts effectively withGPs andthird-party advisors as well as with BCI internal groups (e.g., legal/tax/risk)
Reviewskey credit terms and financial projections
Prepares analysis in support of executing exits, including buy-hold-sell analysis
Prepares IC materials related to exit recommendations
Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creationand Oversight
Monitors assigned investmentsidentifyingrelevant opportunities and risks including tracking/evaluating performance metrics, ongoing review against original investment thesis, strategic fit, significant changesimpactingthe company, valuationissuesand industrydevelopments
Plays an active role in value creation plan (VCP) monitoring and prepares analysis for value creation initiatives
Supports the development of tracking tools and processes to ensure sustained long-term returns
Prepares Portfolio Review Committee (PRC) materials
Systematicallydevelops objective and rigorous views on the long-term health and potential of companies within the portfolio
Origination Support &Ongoing Knowledge
Supports originationin direct dealsandConsumeror TMTsector development activities
Engages inConsumeror TMTsubsector knowledge-building
Plays an active role on GP fund underwrites
Keeps up to date on industry and private equity trends
Develops key strategicrelationships with co-sponsor partners, consultants/advisors, limited partners, internal resources, and other relevant stakeholders

These roles will be based in our headquarters in downtown Victoria, BC.
SALARY RANGE
The annualized salary range for thisVictoria-basedrole is$132,000 - $145,000.
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
