It requires hard work, a lot of innovation and enthusiasm and, of course, an abundance of Purple Passion (def. a love of play, bringing play to communities and specific love of Burke and those you work with)!\nThe Role\nBurke is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern located in Fond du Lac, WI. This role supports the design and development of new playground components and systems. It is a great opportunity to be introduced to Engineering and product design job functions. You will have the ability to customize existing products to meet customer design requirements. Additionally, the role will work to improve functionality, improve safety and quality, and support cost reduction efforts.\nAssist Design Engineers with 3D models, CAD drawings, drawing details to support new product development timelines\nDevelop Installation Instructions for new products\nAssist with structural analysis for new product concepts.\nAssist with physical set up and testing of new products in the prototype phase.\nResearch and analyze market position and data such as competitive products and specifications, price versus cost, and annual usage to determine feasibility of design or application.\nHelp investigate new materials and manufacturing methods to achieve design requirements.\nSupport the design and development of playground components that meet marketing objectives, fit different product lines, and meet required quality and safety standards.\nCreates 2D & 3D CAD models\nDevelops installation instructions and drawings\nHelps develop product specifications, bills of materials, product costs, and marketing release information.\nOther duties as assigned.\nSKILLS AND ABILITIES\nProficient in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred), proficient with Microsoft Office, knowledge of inventory management software.\nAbility to create shop drawings for manufactured parts, weldments and assemblies.\nDesire and ability to work hands-on to assemble prototypes and evaluate prototypes for improved design development.\nAbility to problem solve: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and then implement solutions.\nAbility to effectively communicate with personnel from other departments.\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.\nAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.\nREQUIREMENTS\nEnrolled in secondary educational program related to Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nWe have an awesome team at Burke and the right individual for this role will fit well within our culture of teamwork, straightforward and open communication.
