As a Senior Consultant, Migration Engineer, you will join a growing team focused on helping organizations modernize their technology environments and successfully navigate complex migration initiatives. This net new role is an exciting opportunity to work with enterprise clients as they transform legacy systems, modernize infrastructure, migrate applications and data to cloud platforms, and adopt modern operating models.\nThis role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale transformation programs across a variety of industries while collaborating with cloud architects, platform engineers, business stakeholders, and project teams. Beyond delivery, you will contribute to the evolution of our migration methodologies, tools, accelerators, and service offerings as we continue to grow our practice.\nAs a Senior Consultant, Migration Engineer, you will:\nLead and support application, infrastructure, database, and data migration initiatives for enterprise clients.\n\nAssess current-state environments and develop migration strategies, roadmaps, and target-state architectures.\n\nDesign and execute migration plans across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.\n\nAnalyze technical dependencies, risks, and migration impacts while developing mitigation strategies.\n\nCollaborate with client stakeholders to define migration requirements, success criteria, and implementation approaches.\n\nSupport cloud adoption initiatives across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud platforms.\n\nBuild and maintain migration automation tools, scripts, and repeatable deployment processes.\n\nPerform migration testing, validation, performance tuning, and post-migration support activities.\n\nTroubleshoot complex technical issues throughout migration projects and recommend effective solutions.\n\nContribute to project planning, status reporting, issue management, and stakeholder communications.\n\nSupport business development activities, including solution design, proposals, and client presentations.\n\nMentor junior consultants and contribute to the development of migration best practices and standards.\n\nHow Do We Define Success for Your Role?\nYou demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect, and Collaboration.\n\nYou develop trusted advisor relationships with clients through exceptional delivery and technical expertise.\n\nYou successfully deliver migration projects on time, within scope, and with minimal business disruption.\n\nYou proactively identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement throughout engagements.\n\nYou contribute to the growth and maturity of the migration practice through innovation and knowledge sharing.\n\nYou actively mentor team members and foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment.\n\nYou continuously develop expertise in cloud technologies, modernization approaches, and emerging migration tools.\n\nYou identify opportunities to create additional value for clients through related transformation initiatives.\n\nYour Experience and Education\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.\n\n5+ years of experience delivering technology migration, modernization, infrastructure, or cloud transformation projects.\n\nExperience planning and executing migrations involving applications, servers, databases, storage, or enterprise platforms.\n\nStrong understanding of cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud.\n\nExperience with migration tools, automation frameworks, and infrastructure-as-code solutions.\n\nKnowledge of networking, security, identity management, and enterprise architecture principles.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.\n\nExcellent client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.\n\nExperience working within agile and project delivery environments.\n\nPreferred\nMicrosoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud certifications.\n\nExperience with Microsoft 365, Azure VMware Solution, Active Directory, Exchange, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, or similar enterprise platforms.\n\nExperience with migration assessment and discovery tools.\n\nKnowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, or other automation technologies.\n\nConsulting or professional services experience.\n\nExperience leading workstreams or mentoring junior team members.\n\nThe expected range of compensation for this role is $84,000 - $128,000 annually.\nWhy BDO?\nOur people-first approach to talent has earned us a spot among Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2026.
