The role requires strong hands-on expertise in database performance engineering, SQL optimization, ETL/ELT, data warehousing, cloud data platforms, database migration, and automation.\nThe successful candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and/or Oracle, with particular strength in query performance tuning, index optimization, database troubleshooting, data migration, and automation. Experience with Microsoft Azure and enterprise data platform modernization is highly desirable.\nKey ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise data integration solutions.\nAnalyze and troubleshoot complex database and SQL performance issues.\nPerform SQL query tuning, execution-plan analysis, index analysis, and index optimization.\nIdentify inefficient queries, missing or redundant indexes, blocking, deadlocks, and resource bottlenecks.\nDesign and implement database performance monitoring and optimization frameworks.\nSupport database modernization and migration initiatives across PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud data platforms.\nSupport Oracle-to-PostgreSQL, on-premises-to-cloud, and legacy platform modernization initiatives.\nDesign and optimize data warehouses, data marts, lakehouses, and enterprise data platforms.\nEstablish and maintain automated database maintenance and operational processes.\nImplement automation using Azure services, PowerShell, SQL Server Agent, Python, scripting, and related technologies.\nEnsure high standards of data quality, security, governance, compliance, availability, and operational resilience.\nDevelop data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and exception-management frameworks.\nWork with business and technology stakeholders to translate functional and reporting requirements into scalable technical solutions.\nSupport financial, regulatory, risk, treasury, operational, and management reporting requirements where applicable.\nPerform database capacity planning, performance monitoring, and continuous optimization.\nContribute to technical project delivery, risk identification, dependency management, and stakeholder communication.\nPromote engineering standards, coding practices, documentation, automation, and deployment best practices.\nConduct technical reviews and recommend improvements across database and data engineering environments.\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers where required.\nQualifications and Experience7+ years of experience in Database Engineering, Database Administration, Data Engineering, ETL Development, or Data Platform Engineering.\nStrong hands-on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and/or Oracle.\nAdvanced SQL / T-SQL development and troubleshooting skills.\nStrong experience in SQL query optimization, query performance debugging, execution-plan analysis, index design and optimization, and database performance tuning.\nExperience analyzing blocking, deadlocks, statistics, query-plan management, CPU, memory, I/O, and wait statistics.\nStrong knowledge of ETL/ELT development and enterprise data integration.\nExperience with data warehousing and data modeling.\nExperience delivering complex database and data migration projects.\nExperience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.\nKnowledge of Azure SQL, Azure automation, monitoring, and related cloud services.\nExperience implementing automated database maintenance processes.\nUnderstanding of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.\nExperience working with large-scale and business-critical production databases.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.\nStrong stakeholder communication and requirements-management skills.\nAbility to work independently on complex technical issues and provide senior-level technical recommendations.\nA bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is desirable.\nRelevant certifications in Microsoft Azure, Data Engineering, Database Administration, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or cloud technologies are an advantage.\nTechnical SkillsDatabase Technologies: Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle Database.\nSQL Development: T-SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL SQL.\nCloud Data deadlock analysis, statistics management, resource and wait-statistics analysis.\nAutomation and Monitoring: SQL Server Agent, Azure Automation, Runbooks, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, PowerShell, Python, and scripting.\nDatabase Operations: Database maintenance, backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and production support.\nDevOps and Delivery: CI/CD, DevOps practices, deployment automation, documentation, and engineering standards.\nData Governance and Quality: Metadata management, data lineage, data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and data quality frameworks.\nSkills and CompetenciesStrong database engineering, SQL performance tuning, and troubleshooting skills.\nExcellent understanding of relational database architecture, data modeling, and enterprise data platforms.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly when investigating complex performance issues.\nAbility to design scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable database and data integration solutions.\nStrong knowledge of database performance monitoring, optimization, and automated maintenance.\nAbility to assess technical risks, identify dependencies, and recommend appropriate solutions.\nStrong understanding of data quality, security, governance, compliance, availability, and operational resilience.\nAbility to translate business, financial, regulatory, and reporting requirements into practical technical solutions.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively
