This role involves the design, architecture, development, and administration of software capabilities. Engineer will implement secure, resilient solutions using practices, and will operate with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. This position may involve supervision of others. This position is On-Site in San Antonio, Texas. US Citizenship is required with a Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.\n(Military Veterans encouraged to apply)\nResponsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):\nProvide knowledge in design, architecture, development, and administration of applications.\nProvide technical direction to IT support staff.\nBe responsible for activities such as program design, coding, testing, debugging, or documentation.\nUnderstand the business or function for which the application is designed.\nWrite programs according to specifications, which may be provided by Engineers, technical architects, or other computer scientists.\nUpdate, repair, modify, and expand existing computer programs.\nInstall and configure operating systems, other software, and routinely test installed software for error detection and other issues.\nDesign and implement security systems and redundant backups to maintain data safety.\nWrite custom scripts to reduce the need for human intervention and create automated solutions for the enterprise.\nEstablish multi-platform versions of the software package and write tests for existing and created code to ensure compatibility and stability.\nImplement new features, enhancements, and fixes using modern programming languages and frameworks.\nDevelop modular, containerized code supporting microservices and cloud deployment.\nBuild and maintain interfaces and APIs that connect the application with desired systems.\nWork within Agile teams, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-ups.\nImplement secure coding practices in alignment with Risk Management Framework (RMF ) and Zero Trust principles.\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s degree and/or equivalency.\nSix (6) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency.\nProficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#). Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or SQL).\nAbility to obtain Public Trust security clearance required.\nPreferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:\nPrior experience supporting federal health IT programs.\nFamiliarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.\nKnowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or DoD CloudOne).\nExperience in Microsoft development - Visual Studio, IIS, and SQL Server.\nAbility to work with other senior technical and user staff to complete projects.\nOperates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.\nIn addition, U.S Citizenship is required.
