The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise administering SQL database platforms while ensuring high availability, security, disaster recovery readiness, and optimal system performance.\nThis role will work closely with software developers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and project stakeholders to ensure database solutions align with business and application requirements.\nResponsibilities:\nInstall, configure, patch, and upgrade enterprise Database Management Systems (DBMS).\nDesign, create, and maintain databases, schemas, tables, indexes, stored procedures, and other database objects.\nPerform database performance tuning, optimization, indexing, and query analysis.\nMonitor database health, performance metrics, and system availability.\nImplement database security controls, user permissions, encryption, and access management.\nConduct security audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with organizational security standards.\nDevelop, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.\nEnsure high availability and business continuity through replication, failover, and recovery planning.\nConfigure database monitoring tools, alerts, notifications, and automated maintenance jobs.\nMonitor database storage utilization and proactively plan capacity growth.\nTroubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.\nCollaborate with software development teams to ensure applications follow database best practices.\nSupport database migrations, application releases, and production deployments.\nDocument database configurations, operational procedures, and technical standards.\nParticipate in after-hours maintenance windows and production support as required.\nRequired Minimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline.\nEquivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered.\nMinimum 7+ years of professional database administration experience.\nExperience administering enterprise relational database platforms such as:\nMicrosoft SQL Server\nOracle\nPostgreSQL\nExperience performing:\nDatabase performance tuning\nQuery optimization\nBackup and recovery\nDisaster recovery planning\nSecurity administration\nExperience supporting production database environments.\nStrong understanding of:\nDatabase architecture\nData integrity\nHigh Availability (HA)\nReplication technologies\nDatabase monitoring tools\nExperience troubleshooting complex production database issues.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work independently within a fast-paced Agile environment.\nNice to Have Qualifications:\nExperience supporting Federal Government systems.\nExperience with AWS, Azure, or cloud-hosted database platforms.\nFamiliarity with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD processes.\nExperience using Git, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools.\nExperience supporting containerized environments.\nFamiliarity with scripting languages such as:\nPowerShell\nPython\nBash\nT-SQL\nExperience with database automation.\nPreferred Certifications\nOne or more of the following is preferred:\nMicrosoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate\nMicrosoft SQL Server Certification\nOracle Database Administrator Certified Professional\nPostgreSQL Certification\nAWS Certified Database - Specialty\nSecurity+\nITIL Foundation\nIn addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Select applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Individuals may also be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.\nThe compensation range for this position is $80,000- $110,000.
