The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-scale data architectures, pipelines, and data management solutions that support operational, analytical, and decision-making capabilities across secure environments.\nThe ideal candidate brings deep expertise in modern data engineering technologies, cloud platforms, large-scale data processing, and data governance. This role requires collaboration with system architects, data scientists, software engineers, analysts, and government stakeholders to design secure, scalable, and resilient data solutions that meet mission requirements.\nThe Senior Data Engineer will also provide technical leadership, perform code reviews, guide engineering best practices, develop software prototypes, and support the integration of data solutions across complex enterprise environments.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale data architectures and data pipelines supporting mission-critical systems.\nDevelop and implement ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data sources.\nDesign and optimize data models, databases, and data workflows to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and security.\nDevelop software prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions to support evolving customer requirements.\nPerform code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards, security requirements, and industry best practices.\nCollaborate with system architects, software developers, data scientists, and analysts to integrate data solutions into enterprise applications.\nDesign and implement solutions using SQL and NoSQL database technologies.\nSupport large-scale data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or similar technologies.\nDevelop and maintain cloud-based data architectures within AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.\nImplement data security controls, including Encryption, Data masking, Access controls and Auditing and monitoring\nEnsure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, security policies, and governance standards.\nEstablish and maintain data quality management processes and controls.\nSupport data governance and master data management initiatives.\nDevelop automation solutions that improve data integration, monitoring, and operational efficiency.\nParticipate in DevSecOps initiatives and CI/CD pipeline development.\nUtilize containerization and orchestration technologies to support scalable deployments.\nIdentify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies.\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.\nPresent technical solutions and recommendations to government stakeholders and program leadership.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.\n8-10 years of Data Engineering experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or Federal Government programs.\nExperience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale data architectures and data pipelines.\nStrong experience with: SQL databases, NoSQL databases, Data warehousing solutions, ETL/ELT tools and frameworks\nExperience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka\nSimilar distributed data processing platforms\nExperience designing and supporting cloud-based data solutions using: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)\nAdvanced programming experience in one or more of the following: Python, Java, Scala\nExperience implementing secure data management solutions in regulated environments.\nStrong knowledge of: Data Governance, Data Quality Management, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Lifecycle Management\nExperience implementing cybersecurity controls for data protection.\nAbility to translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable engineering solutions.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nCandidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI Polygraph at the time of hire.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting classified DoD or Intelligence Community programs.\nExperience working within secure cloud environments.\nFamiliarity with DoD data standards and enterprise data strategies.\nExperience supporting Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) data environments.\nExperience designing Data Lake and Data Lakehouse architectures.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.\nCertification(s) such as:\nAWS Certified Data Engineer\nAzure Data Engineer Associate\nCertified Data Management Professional (CDMP)\nSecurity+\nCISSP\nThe compensation range for this position is $160,000-190,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to location, skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.\nIn addition, U.S Citizenship is required.
