This role will own the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all accounting activities across 10-15 portfolio companies, coordinating closely with outsourced accounting resources and internal finance leadership.\nThe ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to operate in a dynamic, acquisition-driven environment. You’ll ensure clean closes, lead the consolidation and reporting process, and help integrate new acquisitions into our systems and processes.\nThis is a foundational role in building an internal accounting capability that scales with our growth.\nLocation: Toronto, ON\nWorking Arrangements: Hybrid (In-office 3-4 days / week)\nWhat You'll Do:\nMulti-Entity Accounting Oversight:\nOwn the month-end and quarter-end close process across a portfolio of 10-15 operating companies.\n\nReview and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by outsourced teams.\n\nEnsure consistent chart of accounts, policies, and accounting standards across entities.\n\nPartner with the FP&A team to ensure alignment between accounting outputs and financial models.\n\nPrepare consolidated financial reporting packages for internal leadership and board presentations.\n\nOutsourced Team Management:\nManage and oversee a team of external analysts, AR, and billing specialists, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and on-time deliverables.\n\nEstablish clear SLAs, workflows, and review controls for outsourced accounting functions.\n\nAct as the bridge between Beacon’s internal finance leadership and outsourced accounting operations.\n\nIdentify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and consistency across the portfolio.\n\nNew Company Integration:\nPartner with the Operations team, and Finance Systems teams to onboard new acquisitions into Beacon’s accounting structure.\n\nDevelop integration checklists for financial systems, reporting templates, and control environments.\n\nReview opening balance sheets, mapping legacy GLs into NetSuite (or other systems) as needed.\n\nSupport the setup of new entities, bank accounts, and intercompany structures.\n\nFinancial Control & Reporting:\nMaintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.\n\nSupport annual audit processes and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.\n\nReview balance sheet reconciliations, deferred revenue schedules, and intercompany eliminations.\n\nAssist in designing accounting processes that scale with future acquisitions.\n\nCross-Functional Collaboration:\nPartner closely with FP&A, Finance Systems, and Corporate Finance to align accounting data flows and reporting.\n\nWork alongside the Director of Finance to support cash flow management, performance tracking, and process automation.\n\nSupport special projects and ad hoc analyses related to integrations, system improvements, and accounting structure optimization.\n\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation required.\n\n3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in multi-entity or acquisition-driven environments.\n\nProven ability to manage and review outsourced teams or distributed accounting functions.\n\nExperience with NetSuite ERP or similar multi-entity systems.\n\nStrong understanding of GAAP, revenue recognition, and consolidation principles.\n\nExcellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.\n\nHigh attention to detail and ability to operate with independence and accountability.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience working in software or SaaS industries.\n\nPrior experience integrating acquired companies into a unified accounting system.\n\nExposure to system implementations or automation projects (e.g., NetSuite, Runway,Tabs).\n\nStrong Excel or Google Sheets skills for reconciliations, analyses, and reporting.\n\nIdeal Candidate:\nSystems thinker who enjoys optimizing complex, interconnected workflows.\n\nOperates with precision, attention to detail, and a focus on scalable solutions.\n\nComfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple stakeholders.\n\nCurious, proactive, and motivated by continuous improvement and learning.\n\nDescriptors of Personas That Succeed At Beacon:\nHigh agency\n\nImpatient with actions, patient with results\n\nPlay for front of the jersey\n\nIntellectually curious\n\nPerpetual learner\n\nLow bureaucracy\n\nSystems thinker\n\nOptimistic\n\nCommercial\n\nAmbitious\n\nOur Values at Beacon Software\nHumility: We acknowledge that the path to getting to the right answer involves being wrong along the way.
