This role offers the opportunity to work with business-critical international payment solutions while combining mainframe expertise with modernisation initiatives.\nPrimary tasks and responsibilities include:\nCollaborating closely with Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners and Team Architects. \nSupporting the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of business-critical payment systems. \nDeveloping and modernising COBOL-based payment solutions. \nPerforming technical analysis, solution design, testing and implementation of user stories and defect fixes. \nTroubleshooting issues, resolving defects and supporting test activities. \nRefining user stories and evaluating technical feasibility and solution design. \nTo succeed you will have:\nHands-on experience with COBOL, CICS, IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), MQ, DB2, JCL, Git, Bitbucket, Jira and ServiceNow. \nHave solid hands-on experience as a COBOL software engineer working with business-critical systems \nExperience working with complex, business-critical systems on the mainframe. \nAbility to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion. \nStrong analytical skills and the ability to handle complex technical challenges. \nStrong collaboration skills, including knowledge sharing and working effectively across cross-functional teams. \nFluency in written and spoken English. \nA university degree, ideally in information technology, computer science or a related discipline. \nIt's nice-to-have:\nExperience from the financial sector, preferably within payments. \nKnowledge of payment platforms and payment flows, including international payments. \nExperience with Java development. \nExperience with test automation. \nKnowledge of microservice architecture. \nExperience working with modernisation initiatives and integration between legacy and modern systems. \nBe your best self with BEC's benefits!\nWe offer a diverse range of benefits for our employees.
