The team generates and archives documents across BEC and is replacing legacy document-generation and archiving solutions with a modern SaaS platform.\nThe Java software engineer role offers the opportunity to build modern Java services, integrate a commercial SaaS archive with mainframe and distributed systems, and shape a major modernization initiative. The team collaborates across Warsaw and Roskilde, and your direct manager will be Kamil Zych.\nPrimary task and responsibilities include:\nDesign and build APIs and microservices in Java 21 and newer with Spring Boot, REST, and Maven, containerized on OpenShift/Kubernetes.\nDevelop event-driven components using Kafka and follow microservice and EDA best practices.\nIntegrate a commercial SaaS archiving solution with existing BEC systems across mainframe and distributed applications.\nCollaborate in an agile team: share knowledge, participate in code reviews, and work with Jira, Git, ServiceNow and Confluence.\nWork closely with business architects and stakeholders in the Documents Cluster to deliver reliable, secure solutions.\nOccasional travel to Roskilde, Denmark to meet teammates and stakeholders. \nTo succeed you will have:\nAt least 5 years of hands-on experience with modern Java, REST, Spring Boot, and Maven.\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.\nExperience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, and microservices.\nFamiliarity with integrating COTS/SaaS solutions into complex enterprise environments (mainframe and distributed).\nComfort with Jira, Git, and Confluence or Wiki-based documentation. \nAn agile mindset, including translating feature descriptions into user stories and iterative delivery.\nA positive and supportive, cooperative approach; ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking ownership and involving the right colleagues.\nFluent English (written and spoken).\nIt’s nice-to-have:\nKnowledge of the financial sector (nice to have)\nExperience with OpenShift/Kubernetes operations and observability.\nBackground in document archiving systems or document management platforms.\nExposure to modernization projects (e.g., migrating legacy Java/EJB/JSP applications).\nBe your best self with BEC’s Benefits!\nWe offer a diverse range of benefits for our employees.
