The Opportunity

Our Australian Cost Estimation Team is growing, and as a result, we are seeking a Cost Estimator to join our team. With a particular focus on the Power, Energy and Civil sectors, this position offers opportunity to lead and deliver specialised estimates with a high degree of autonomy while working alongside multidisciplinary engineering, project management and advisory teams.

While each project you work on will be different in scope and scale, this role will see you:

• Contribute to the growth of our Australian business by bolstering the estimating capability and supporting projects within all regions where Beca has a presence across key markets including Power & Energy, Industrial, Water, Civil, Food Processing, Defence and Buildings.

• Exposed to a wide range of projects across a variety of clients and industries.

• Impacting the quality of our project delivery by ensuring robust Estimation practices are followed across the team.

• Building capability while immediately supporting a range of projects across the globe.

Our cost estimation and multi-disciplinary engineering team is spread across our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices. Working within our team, you will step into a supportive culture where you can be involved, be heard and be encouraged to lead.

About You

We are looking for a proactive estimator with a solid foundation in cost estimating and construction who can work independently on a range of projects while collaborating effectively with technical specialists, project teams and clients. You may have a background in estimating, quantity surveying, trade, engineering or a related field, with practical construction and project delivery experience being highly valued.

We also expect that you will:

• Typically have 3-8 years of estimating, quantity surveying or similar experience.

• Be capable of independently delivering small to medium-sized estimates, with support available from senior team members on larger or more complex projects.

• Have an understanding of general construction methodologies.

• Experience within the Power & Energy sector, additional experience in Water, Industrial, Civil, Food Processing, Defence, Buildings or Infrastructure sectors also considered favorably

• Have on-site experience, and an understanding of prevailing market trends, construction costs, and risk mitigations

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical specialists and clients.

• Provide technical advice around estimating while embracing a culture that values teamwork.

• Understand the different classes of estimate (AACE Class 1 to AACE Class 5) and their associated expected level of accuracy, estimating methodology and end usage.

• Contribute to knowledge sharing and support the development of less experienced team members where appropriate.
