We retrofit the heavy equipment contractors already own, starting with excavators, so experienced crews can safely take on more projects and deliver them more predictably.\nIn August 2026, Bedrock-equipped excavators began doing fully autonomous, paid work on live commercial job sites. We've more than doubled our customer base since 2025, and our machines now work with contractors across the West, South, and Midwest.\nIn October 2026, we raised a $600M Series C co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital, bringing our total funding to nearly $1B. We're using it to put more autonomous machines to work, build the field and operations teams behind every deployment, and expand into new machine types and job-site tasks.\nThis is where algorithms meet steel-toed boots. You'll work alongside construction veterans and world-class engineers to solve physical-world problems that simulations can't touch. If you're ready to do meaningful work on hard problems, we'd love to have you join us.\nAbout the Role\nAs a Hardware Engineer on the Autonomy Platforms team you will architect, source, build, and bring to life the key hardware systems that enable autonomy on our machines. You will work with a wide range of engineering teams within Bedrock (product, commercial, perception, behavior, controls, platform integration, supply chain, and more) to drive consensus on critical HW system functionality and decomposition. You will work alongside other HW engineers to bring about these components, ensuring the platform meets our high performance bars and works reliably in the harsh environments that we deploy into.\nWhat You'll Do\nThe candidate will be responsible for designing, characterizing, integrating, and validating bedrock autonomy hardware.\nHelp define system and component level HW architecture for autonomous machines\n\nEstablish and lead relationships and programs with external vendors to deliver critical components and systems for our autonomous HW platforms\n\nWork with other HW platform engineers to bring together a cohesive and high performance system that is flexible and modular\n\nWork with safety team to establish requirements and performance metrics for components and systems\n\nWrite reusable, high quality, data analysis and test automation software (Python and/or C++/C/Rust)\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field\n\nHands on experience with design and testing of autonomy HW such as sensing, compute, HMI, connectivity, and machine control interfaces\n\nStrong foundational knowledge in traditional HW engineering subjects such as electrical design, high and low speed communication protocols, power electronics, bring-up and testing, and deployment of hardware systems in rugged outdoor environments\n\nExperience leading large HW development programs from ideation through proto, EVT, DVT, and production stages\n\nExperience with some of the following:\nHigh performance/power edge compute including multi-CPU platforms (x86, ARM) with significant GPU resources, including experience around power and cooling (air/liquid)\n\nCommon autonomous sensing technologies including lidar (spinning, flash), camera (visible, SWIR, NIR, etc…), radar, RTK GNSS, and IMU\n\nRemote operator stations including ergonomic human interfaces, low latency information display, and safety critical design\n\nHMI deployment in rugged (high shock/vibe and temp) environments including screens and/or tablets\n\nPackaging and integration strategies for high performance HW systems in rugged environments including high shock/vibe, wide temp ranges, IP, and solar loading\n\nHigh speed signaling including GSML, multi gigabit ethernet, RF\n\nProficiency in compiled (C/C++/Rust), shell (linux bash), or runtime (Python) languages with ability to prototype and debug software components of HW systems as well as run tests, data collection, analysis, and reporting\n\nPreferred:\n6+ years of relevant industry experience preferred\n\nHeavy machinery hydraulic systems including electronic control\n\nHigh performance embedded compute, in particular Nvidia Jetson lineup\n\nHigh and low speed communication protocols (GMSL, FPDlink, PCIe, multi GigE, A2B, CAN, UART, SPI, RS232/422/485, etc…)\n\nExperience with system engineering requirements definition and V&V\n\nHigh power LED lighting for scene illumination\n\nExperience with common standards for HW deployment in construction\nISO26262, ISO16750, SAE J1455, etc…\n\nFamiliarity with large commercial construction equipment basic machine electrical and mechanical HW and interface\n\nBedrock Robotics is an Equal Opportunity Employer\nWe’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
