Diagnostics & Failure Analysis\nDevelop structured diagnostic workflows to identify root causes of failures\n\nPartner with hardware, firmware, and quality teams on root cause analysis (RCA)\n\nDifferentiate between design issues, supplier defects, and manufacturing errors\n\nImplement containment actions and feed improvements back into test and design\n\n6. Reliability & Sustaining Test\nDesign and execute ongoing reliability and stress testing (burn-in, environmental, lifecycle)\n\nMonitor failure trends and adjust test strategies to catch emerging issues\n\nEnsure alignment between validation testing and production test coverage\n\n7. Test Coverage & Continuous Improvement\nDefine and track test coverage metrics and escape rates\n\nContinuously improve test effectiveness to reduce field failures and returns\n\nOptimize test time, cost, and efficiency without compromising quality\n\nDrive improvements in first pass yield (FPY) through better detection and diagnostics\n\n8. Data, Automation & Scaling\nBuild systems for automated data collection, analysis, and reporting\n\nLeverage scripting and software tools to streamline test development and execution\n\nImplement scalable solutions that support multi-line, multi-site manufacturing\n\nUtilize advanced tools (including AI Agents/ML where applicable) for:\nAnomaly detection\n\nFailure classification\n\nPredictive insights on test and field data\n\nKey Requirements:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field\n\n5+ years of experience in manufacturing test, hardware validation, or production engineering\n\nExperience supporting NPI builds (EVT/DVT/PVT) and scaling production ramp\n\nStrong experience with automated test development and scripting (Python preferred)\n\nHands-on experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, DAQs, power supplies, sensors, etc.)\n\nFamiliarity with MES systems, work order configuration, and manufacturing workflows\n\nExperience with hardware-software integration and embedded systems testing\n\nKnowledge of diagnostics, failure analysis, and reliability testing methodologies\n\nExperience with data analysis tools (Python, SQL, or similar)\n\nWilling to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%\n\nPreferred Experience:\nRobotics, autonomous systems, or complex electromechanical products\n\nHigh-volume manufacturing and contract manufacturer environments\n\nVision systems, calibration processes, or system-level testing\n\nHIL/SIL testing frameworks\n\nProblem-Solving Mindset: Ability to manage and resolve complex challenges with little to no established playbooks, using creative and proven strategic thinking to drive solutions.\n\nRisk Management: Proven track record of identifying, managing, and mitigating risks in large, complex programs.\n\nAdaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to thrive in a fast-moving, constantly evolving environment.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like:\nHigh test coverage with minimal field escapes\n\nEfficient, scalable test systems that support rapid production ramp\n\nFast and accurate failure detection and diagnosis\n\nImproved yield and reduced rework through better test and diagnostics\n\nStrong alignment between design validation and manufacturing test\n\nOperating Style:\nHands-on, detail-oriented, and highly analytical\n\nStrong problem solver with a bias toward root cause and data-driven decisions\n\nComfortable working on the factory floor and in the lab\n\nThrives in fast-paced environments with evolving products and processes\n\nIf you thrive in dynamic environments, love solving complex challenges, and want to make an impact with cutting-edge technology, we’d love to hear from you!\nDay in the life - Manufacturing Test Engineer\nMorning: Data Review & Production Pulse Check\nYou start by checking what happened overnight or on the previous shift:\nFirst Pass Yield (FPY) by station\n\nTop failure modes and pareto trends\n\nTest station uptime and bottlenecks\n\nAny line stops or escalations\n\nIf a failure spikes-say a communication test or sensor calibration-you flag it immediately.\nThen you join a quick stand-up with manufacturing, quality, and engineering:\nWhat’s breaking on the line right now?\n\nAre failures real (product) or false (test issues)?\n\nWhat needs immediate containment vs. deeper investigation?\n\nYou leave with a clear priority: keep the line running, but don’t let bad units escape.\nMid-Morning: On-the-Line Debugging\nYou’re on the manufacturing floor (or remote into stations), working side-by-side with technicians.\nTypical scenarios:\nA unit is failing functional test intermittently → you hook into logs, probe signals, and check if it’s hardware, firmware, or test script timing\n\nA station is slowing throughput → you optimize sequence timing or parallelize steps\n\nA new build variant isn’t flowing correctly → you adjust work order/test routing in MES\n\nYou’re constantly asking:\nIs this a real defect or a test artifact?\n\nIf it’s real, is it design, component, or process-related?\n\nHow do we contain it now and detect it earlier next time?\n\nMidday: Test Development & Iteration\nBack at your desk or lab bench, you shift into build mode.\nYou might be:\nWriting Python scripts to automate a new functional test\n\nAdding diagnostics to isolate failures faster (better logging, error codes, signal capture)\n\nIntegrating new hardware into the test system (DAQs, sensors, fixtures)\n\nExpanding test coverage to catch a recently discovered issue\n\nThis is where you improve the system so the same issue doesn’t keep showing up on the line.\nEarly Afternoon: Bring-Up & New Product Support\nIf you’re in EVT/DVT/PVT or launching a new product, this block is intense.\nYou’re:\nBringing up new test stations for a prototype or pilot build\n\nDebugging early design issues exposed during testing\n\nDefining pass/fail limits where none existed before\n\nRapidly iterating test sequences as the product evolves\n\nExpect ambiguity-things aren’t fully defined yet, and you’re helping shape both the test strategy and the product quality bar.\nMid-Afternoon: Failure Analysis & Cross-Functional Work\nYou sit down with hardware, firmware, and quality engineers to go deeper on key issues:\nReviewing failure logs and waveform captures\n\nReproducing issues in the lab\n\nRunning experiments to isolate root cause\n\nYou help answer:\nDid test catch this early enough?\n\nShould this be moved upstream (design validation vs. production test)?\n\nWhat additional coverage is needed to prevent escapes?\n\nThis is where you connect test → design → manufacturing → field performance.\nLate Afternoon: Systems, Scaling & Optimization\nNow you zoom out and improve the broader system:\nUpdating MES flows (test steps, routing, traceability)\n\nRefining test limits to reduce false failures without letting defects pass\n\nImproving test time to increase throughput\n\nBuilding dashboards for test data visibility\n\nYou may also work on:\nReliability testing setups (burn-in, stress tests)\n\nAutomation to reduce manual intervention\n\nSmarter failure classification (rule-based or AI-assisted)\n\nEnd of Day: Wrap-Up & Prioritization\nBefore signing off, you:\nCheck if critical line issues are contained\n\nEnsure test changes are deployed and documented\n\nAlign with the next shift or offshore teams\n\nSet priorities for the next day (new tests, top failures, line risks)\n\nWhat Makes the Role Unique\nYou are the gatekeeper between manufacturing and the field\n\nYou constantly balance coverage vs. speed vs. cost\n\nYou touch everything: hardware, software, fixtures, data systems, and operations\n\nYour work directly impacts yield, reliability, and customer experience\n\nIn One Sentence\nYou spend your day building and refining the systems that catch problems early, diagnose them quickly, and keep production moving without compromising quality.\nBedrock Robotics is an Equal Opportunity Employer\nWe’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
