Our team includes veterans who helped launch Waymo, scaled Segment to a $3.2B acquisition, and grew Uber Freight to $5B in revenue. Today, we're deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction equipment across the country, improving safety on job sites and accelerating schedules on critical infrastructure projects.\nWe're not here debating the future of AI. We're deploying it in the real world. In just two years, we've raised $350M and achieved the first fully autonomous excavator deployments in construction.\nThis is where algorithms meet steel-toed boots. You'll work alongside construction veterans and world-class engineers to solve physical-world problems that simulations can't touch. If you're ready to do meaningful work on hard problems, we'd love to have you join us.\nThe Fleet Operations Regional Manager Eastern Region is a senior field leadership role responsible for the performance, reliability, and operational excellence of Bedrock Robotics' deployed robot fleet across a multi-state territory centered in Atlanta, GA. You will build, lead, and develop a geographically distributed team of Fleet Technicians, drive key reliability metrics (Uptime, MTTR, MTBF), and serve as the primary operational owner between Bedrock and its Eastern Region Partner customers.\nThis role demands a rare combination of hands-on technical depth in electromechanical systems and proven people-leadership experience managing field technicians across multiple locations. You thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, hold your team to a high standard, and are passionate about keeping complex machines running in the field.\nKey Responsibilities\nTeam Leadership & Development\nDirectly manage a distributed team of Fleet Technicians (typically 8-15 technicians) across the Eastern Region, spanning 10+ states.\n\nRecruit, onboard, and develop technician talent; conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations.\n\nBuild and maintain technician scheduling, on-call rotations, and deployment coverage to ensure regional fleet SLA commitments are met.\n\nFoster a high-accountability team culture grounded in safety, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.\n\nIdentify training gaps and coordinate with the Training team to upskill technicians on new robot platforms, tools, and procedures.\n\nFleet Operations & Reliability\nOwn regional fleet Uptime, MTTR, MTBF, and first-time-fix-rate metrics; report performance to Head of Data & Fleet Operations on a weekly cadence.\n\nServe as the regional escalation point for complex or unresolved field issues; deploy personally or dispatch senior technicians as needed.\n\nConduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring failures and partner with Engineering to drive systemic fixes into future builds.\n\nManage the regional parts inventory and tooling supply chain, ensuring technicians have what they need to resolve issues within SLA windows.\n\nLead regional response to fleet-wide safety events or field stops, coordinating with Safety, Engineering, and Customer Success teams.\n\nMaintain strict compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing field service operations (DOT, OSHA, site-specific HSE).\n\nCustomer & Stakeholder Management\nServe as the senior Bedrock field representative for customer relationships across the Eastern Region; attend QBRs and site reviews as needed.\n\nProactively communicate fleet status, planned maintenance windows, and incident updates to Customer Success and directly to managers.\n\nEnsure regional operations meet contractual SLAs and customer uptime commitments; escalate risks to Head of DFO ahead of breaches.\n\nCollaborate with Account Management and Sales on expansion planning when customers deploy additional robots in the region.\n\nBe prepared to go into the field to support your technicians and our Partners at any time.\n\nProcess, Compliance & Reporting\nEnsure all field activity repairs, PMs, inspections, parts usage is accurately documented in the Fleet Management System (FMS) within required timeframes.\n\nImplement and enforce standardized maintenance procedures (SOPs) across the region; flag deviations and drive corrective action.\n\nManage the regional operations budget (T&E, parts, tools, contractor labor); flag variances and identify cost reduction opportunities.\n\nContribute to the development of new playbooks, escalation paths, and operational standards as the fleet scales nationally.\n\nProvide regional field intelligence to Product and Engineering surfacing patterns, customer feedback, and environment-specific challenges.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of experience in field service, fleet operations, or technical field management with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing field technicians.\n\nDemonstrated ability to manage geographically distributed teams across multiple states or regions.\n\nHands-on technical background in electromechanical systems, robotics, industrial automation, or a closely related field (e.g., aerospace, heavy equipment, EV/autonomous vehicles).\n\nProven track record owning and improving reliability KPIs such as fleet uptime, MTTR, MTBF, or first-time fix rate.\n\nStrong analytical skills comfortable reading data from fleet monitoring systems, building summary reports, and making data-driven operational decisions.\n\nExcellent communication skills: able to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders and represent Bedrock professionally with enterprise customers.\n\nAbility and willingness to travel up to 50% across the Central Region, including overnight and multi-day trips.\n\nValid US driver's license with a clean driving record; able to operate a commercial service vehicle if required.\n\nProficiency with field service management software (e.g., Fleetio, SAP, Salesforce Field Service, IFS, or comparable FMS & ERP platforms).\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in IT, Business, Management, Engineering, Robotics or equivalent professional experience.\n\nExperience in the robotics, autonomous systems, or advanced manufacturing industries.\n\nFamiliarity with ISO reliability standards or equivalent reliability engineering frameworks.\n\nExperience managing technician teams that perform both preventive maintenance and complex corrective repairs on sophisticated electromechanical systems.\n\nSix Sigma, Lean, or other formal process improvement certification.\n\nPrior experience working within a venture-backed or high-growth technology company comfortable with evolving processes and limited structure.\n\nCore Competencies\nPeople Leadership\nBuilds high-performing distributed teams through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability.\nTechnical Credibility\nDeep enough technical fluency to earn technician trust, accurately assess complex field issues, and engage meaningfully with Engineering.\nOperational Rigor\nInstills and enforces process discipline documentation, SOP adherence, and data quality without sacrificing responsiveness.\nCustomer Focus\nRepresents Bedrock as a trusted partner to enterprise customers; proactively manages expectations and resolves issues before they escalate.\nData-Driven Decision Making\nUses fleet data and reliability metrics to prioritize resources, surface trends, and drive continuous improvement.\nAdaptability & Resilience\nThrives in a high-growth environment where processes, tools, and team size are rapidly evolving.\nWorking Conditions & Physical Requirements\nThis is a field-forward role. The Fleet Operations Regional Manager is expected to spend meaningful time on customer sites alongside their team not exclusively at a desk.\nRegular travel within the Eastern Region (GA, FL, MS, SC, NC, WV, plus new markets), with up to 50% overnight travel. Could travel to other states as needed.\n\nAbility to work in outdoor environments, including exposure to noise, dust, sun, heat, rain, and varying weather conditions.\n\nAbility to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and occasionally work in confined or elevated spaces with appropriate PPE.\n\nMust be able to work occasional weekends, evenings, or on-call shifts in response to fleet incidents or customer escalations.\n\nAbility to operate a motor vehicle safely; valid US driver's license required.\n\nBedrock Robotics is an Equal Opportunity Employer\nWe’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic.\nReasonable Accommodations\nWe want our hiring process to be accessible to everyone.
