This hands-on role is responsible for monitoring and operating critical mechanical and supporting electrical infrastructure, completing facility rounds and preventative maintenance, responding to alarms and equipment issues, and maintaining accurate operational records. The position supports a 24/7 operating environment and works closely with Facilities, Security, contractors, vendors, and OEM service providers\nKey Responsibilities\nMonitor and operate critical facility systems, including chillers, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC equipment, generators, UPS systems, and electrical distribution equipment.\nConduct routine facility rounds and inspections, record equipment readings, and identify abnormal or deteriorating operating conditions.\nMonitor Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and respond to alarms in accordance with approved procedures.\nPerform and document assigned preventative maintenance, inspections, equipment adjustments, and minor repairs.\nSupport troubleshooting and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.\nMaintain accurate operating logs, shift records, maintenance documentation, and work-order updates.\nSupport planned maintenance, equipment outages, commissioning, integrated testing, and operational turnover activities.\nCoordinate and escort contractors, vendors, and OEM technicians performing work within the facility.\nParticipate in shift handovers and clearly communicate equipment status, active risks, alarms, and outstanding work.\nApply approved MOP, SOP, and EOP requirements and comply with applicable health, safety, environmental, security, and regulatory requirements.\nCritical Qualifications\nValid 4th Class Stationary Engineer or Power Engineer certification applicable to the province of employment.\nRelevant experience operating and maintaining mechanical plant, central utility systems, or mission-critical facility infrastructure.\nWorking knowledge of HVAC, chilled-water systems, pumps, cooling equipment, and associated mechanical systems.\nAbility to interpret equipment alarms, operating parameters, drawings, procedures, and technical documentation.\nDemonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving capability in an operating facility environment.\nAbility to work autonomously, follow formal procedures, and make sound operational decisions under pressure.\nAbility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, as operationally required.\nAbility to safely perform the physical and technical duties of the position and use the required tools and equipment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nValid 4th Class Stationary Engineer or Power Engineer certification applicable to the province of employment.\nRelevant experience operating and maintaining mechanical plant, central utility systems, or mission-critical facility infrastructure.\nWorking knowledge of HVAC, chilled-water systems, pumps, cooling equipment, and associated mechanical systems.\nAbility to interpret equipment alarms, operating parameters, drawings, procedures, and technical documentation.\nDemonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving capability in an operating facility environment.\nAbility to work autonomously, follow formal procedures, and make sound operational decisions under pressure.\nAbility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, as operationally required.\nAbility to safely perform the physical and technical duties of the position and use the required tools and equipment.\nAdequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.\nAdditional Information:\nPosition Type: Management\nJob Status: Regular - Full Time\nJob Location: Canada : British Columbia : Merritt\nWork Arrangement: Full-time in office (meaning that you will be required to perform your work on-site)\nApplication Deadline: 11/10/2026\nFor work arrangements that are ‘Hybrid’, successful candidates must be based in Canada and report to a set Bell office for a minimum of 3 days a week.
