Bell Lumber & Pole is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our team. In this role, you’ll inspect treated utility poles to ensure they meet strict industry and customer standards. You’ll work closely with plant operations, supporting safety, quality, and performance across the yard.\nKey Responsibilities\nInspect treated wood utility poles for compliance with ANSI, REA, AWPA, and customer specifications\n\nIdentify defects and apply proper grading rules based on relevant standards\n\nPerform penetration and retention testing on treating charges\n\nTitrate treating solution as required\n\nAccurately complete and maintain inspection records and documentation\n\nCommunicate inspection results with plant and quality leadership\n\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work area\n\nCollaborate with internal and independent quality inspectors\n\nOther yard duties as needed\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nEducation: High school diploma or equivalent\nExperience:\nExperience working outdoors in variable weather conditions\n\nPrevious quality control or inspection experience is a plus\n\nSkills & Requirements:\nStrong understanding (or willingness to learn) ANSI, REA, AWPA, and ASTM standards\n\nAbility to read a tape measure accurately\n\nComfortable working around and on pole piles, including climbing ladders\n\nSolid math skills and attention to detail\n\nGood communication and record-keeping abilities\n\nCommitment to safety and proper PPE use\n\nFamiliarity with inventory systems is helpful\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to sit, talk and hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, infrequently lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as an outdoor environment with exposure to elements such as heat, precipitation, wind. Employees will have moderate exposure to noise as heard in pole production yard, including exposure to higher noise levels associated with power equipment. Employee will have light exposure to the chemicals and solutions used in treating wood.
