The DBA will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, reliability, and efficiency of our data systems, supporting both operational needs and strategic growth.\nKey Responsibilities\nDatabase Management: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database software.\nPerformance Monitoring & Tuning: Continuously monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing.\nBackup & Recovery: Develop, implement, and regularly test robust backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data integrity and ensure business continuity.\nSecurity: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, role management, and data encryption.\nTroubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity errors, and data corruption.\nDatabase Design Support: Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas, optimize queries, and provide technical guidance on database best practices.\nCapacity Planning: Monitor database growth and forecast future resource requirements (storage, CPU, memory).\nHigh Availability & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage high availability solutions (e.g., clustering, replication) and participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.\nDocumentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards.\nAutomation: Develop scripts and tools to automate routine database tasks.\nCritical Qualifications\nProven experience as a Database Administrator.\nIn-depth knowledge of one or more major database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).\nStrong proficiency in SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and database design principles.\nExpertise in database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.\nSolid understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery methodologies.\nExperience with database security best practices.\nFamiliarity with operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).\nScripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation are advantageous.\nExperience with cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nTransformational agent - agile and ability to mobilize resources and execute on critical initiatives needed to transform our business\nGreat communicator - ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization\nCritical thinker - demonstrated ability to tackle complex problems effectively\nAvid learner - continuous learner of all things technical and process\nFocus driven - ability to manage stress and pressure in a collaborative environment\nDynamic collaborator with multiple project team member experience (vendors, project managers, analysts, architecture, business sponsors, etc\nAdequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.\nAdditional Information:\nPosition Type: Management\nJob Status: Regular - Full Time\nJob Location: Canada : Ontario : Toronto\nWork Arrangement: Hybrid\nApplication Deadline: 10/23/2026\nFor work arrangements that are ‘Hybrid’, successful candidates must be based in Canada and report to a set Bell office for a minimum of 3 days a week.
